      Dreaming

      Hi..
Im new to this but ive had quite a few lucid dreams and have tried as well in the past...my first dream i was playing basketball and i realzied that i was much too young than in real life so i instantly realized i was dreaming but didnt wake up...i was having a second part dream that i was looking at myslef above my bed sleeping and when i again realized i was dreaming i coudlnt breathe for a couple seconds..i was choking on my own breath..now i dont know if this is normal but if someone could give me an explanation that would be awesome...next i recently have been having day dreams where i know im sleeping but i cant quite control them...for example i try to make a scenery in my dream but when i choose something diferent thing pops up and several images start flashing quicky and i force myself to wake...if you have any comment or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated..thanks

      Hello chris2carter

All the scenarios are quite normal. The floating and seeing yourself is at times thought of as an OBE, or an out of body experience. Perhaps it is just an illusory state of lucid dreaming.
When your conscious brain realizes these events sometimes you get conscious reactions. Such as surprise and not being able to breathe. Trying to relax in all cases of lucidity seem to be helpful.
The other case seems to be HI. Hypnagogic imagery. This is a state between a wakeful sate and sleep. You can learn to control this realm of consciousness. But again it is a thin line of remaining relaxed enough to stay aware yet not too relaxed to let your mind drift into sleep.
Once theses images manifest into greater and more vivid images, you will notice you will find yourself in a dream.

So don't force anything. let it all happen.

Hey there and welcome to the froum!!
Congrats on all of the LDs you had, and don't worry too much about controlling them (and don't worry about breathing in them either). You might want to put all of these down into a Dream Journal!! Don't worry if you can't control them, just go with the flow and be happy you have them, and keep trying (eventually, you will be able to control them).
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
