      Some questions, i'm new

Hello, i'm new to lucid dreaming, my friend had told me about it and I tried to do it, anyway I have been doing some research online almost everywhere. I've come across some interesting stuff anyway, I started to lucid dream on 5-5-06, I also started a dream journal i have read alot of stuff about reality checks and technquies. For about 6 years i have not been able to recall any dreams what so ever, soon after I had my first recall I wrote it down. It is now 5-11-06 and I have started to recall about 3 dreams a night though my dreams are kinda fuzzy to remember. I have also been doing reality checks for 3 days now, I have a digital watch and i set it to beep about every hour so I always go by that but the problem I have is trying to reality check in my dreams. Whenever I wake up i am always dissapointed because I knew I was dreaming but failed to realize it. I was wondering if there is any techniques or if i should do anything diffrent to help me reaize this. I have a hard time trying to control myself to reality check in my dreams i even tell my self at night "I will recall my dreams, and I will know I am dreaming" but it fails everytime I know i shouldn't expect too much but I am really excited to lucid dream. I was thinking of maybe playing some music litely so that my consciousness is a little higher but im not sure, can someone please help me? Thank you!

Hey there! I already sent you the "official" welcome, but I thought I'd respond here also.

That's great progress! From no recall to 3/night in just 6 days? Awesome job!

Don't worry too much about that. It will either come, or it won't. For a lot of people -- including me -- RCs are not the best way to induce lucidity.

IMO this is an excellent method. I think you can see that, combined with your journal, it has improved your recall. Just give it time to work. Many people have to practice this for several weeks, or even months, before achieving lucidity.

If you want to try playing music, go right ahead. It's one of those things that seems to help some, and hinder others. I prefer silence when sleeping, so I usually wear foam earplugs.

      Keep up the good work!
