      Odd Nightmares.

I believe that this is a subject in relavent to this website, but i will remove this post if it is not appropriate.

Recently I have been having very vivid non-lucid nightmares about getting killed or hurt, and i did not wake upon the action that was taken to do this to me.

      1) Im in a cabin somewhere in a densely forested area, my 2 freinds leave the room, 1 to use the restroom, the other went outside. Im in the kitchen, there is a man cutting up vegetables on a cutting board, we are carrying on mildly interesting conversation that i cant remember in detail... When all of a sudden he rushes me with the knife and stabs me multiple times, once in the head. I figured i would have woken up(after i had already woken up and recalled this dream).

      2) Walking down a city street and 3 guys jump me and my freinds, all with knives. I block the first swipe from the knife, but as im blocking it i get stabbed in my armpit. And also instead of waking up I felt this great pain in my armpit for the remainder of the dream, it is uncomfortable and left me groggy in the morning.

3)Im in some odd industrial complex applying for a job. A man working the crane starts trying to hit me with the giant 2-ton steel ball at the end of the crane. He ends up smashing my arm, which just leaves me crippled again, doesnt wake me up.

I know it sounds like i must have a fear of knives or something, but i dont. That was just 3 completely random ones. Any ideas on why this is happening

I find that a lot of my dreams go in phases, thought I haven't figured out a pattern yet. It's possible that for some reason you're having a phase of violent, unpleasant nightmares. Have these dreams been going on for a long period of time or have they appeared just recently? If they've just been happening for a few days, give it some time and they should pass on.

However, I think that recognizing the quality of your dreams can play a large role in changing them. Sometimes they can be caused by movies you watch or even if there are things you see every day such as a knife. I posted in your other thread about coming up with a plan of action. Decide what you're going to do if something goes wrong in your dreams again, and repeat that plan to yourself before you go to bed.

I've also found that if I plan out what I'm going to do in case of a nightmare, I usually don't need it, but it never hurts to be prepared.
