in a lot of my dreams i have total control over what i do, although i dont know im in a dream, like its a separate life and i choose what i want to do within the boundaries of the theme of the particular dream.

Is this quite common or do dreams usually just play out?
I find this is quite common for me, with one tiny difference. I find i know i am dreaming, but i choose to let the dream play out on its own.
