Thread: Newbie, just a bit about myself

G'day everybody,

My names Rob or Robbie or whatever you wanna call me, i'm a 16 year old aussie who lives in Brisbane the sunshine state, Queensland. I love playing guitar (big fan of hendrix, stevie ray, led zep, ac dc, chili peppers etc.)

I can only rember having a lucid dream once and it was when i was pretty young and i decided to fly (how origninal).

I was intruged by the fact that some people have LD's quite regulary and decided to research the topic which eventually led me here. I dream almost everynight and can rember about 90 percent of my dreams reasonalby well.

If anyone has any advice or questions feel free to ask!

Hi, welcome to the forum! Well, it seems like you have a pretty good start going, in that you have good recall. Do you keep a dream journal? If you don't, it's a good idea to start one right away, as this helps you to identify your dreamsigns, to enable you to go lucid.
I think you should also check out the tutorials forum, as this has lots of information on different techniques to help with lucid dreaming. It also has an acronym list for all the terms we use, so you'll never wonder what we're talking about!

i do have question actually,

in a lot of my dreams i have total control over what i do, although i dont know im in a dream, like its a separate life and i choose what i want to do within the boundaries of the theme of the particular dream.

Is this quite common or do dreams usually just play out?

oops forgot to ask something else...how do i get a deisplay picture to appear on the little box thing with my name in it?

I find this is quite common for me, with one tiny difference. I find i know i am dreaming, but i choose to let the dream play out on its own.
Oh, and the little picture thingy under your name is called an 'avatar'. you can find some listed in the profile section when you go to 'update profile' or you can use your own. Be sure to check out the Rules section so you don't go over the size or pixel limit.

Awesome, so how long have u been a lucid dreamer for and did u learn it or have u always been able to do it?

Also antoehr point i wanted to mention was that ive had heaps of dreams where ive realised im in a dream and at that moment ive got so excited that i wake up

its happened many many times

Also lately since ive been thinking bout all this dreaming stuff, ive had very clear dreams for the past week, and last nite was very,very realistic and quite a fun dream. I felt like i had complete control over my actions, but didnt realise i was in a dream...looking forward to my dream tonight..as a matter of fact i gotta go to bed now!

Yep, this is very common especially in new dreamers. The thing to try and remember next time is relax, keep yourself occupied for a bit by studying your surroundings and just taking in all the details. Keep your mind off of the shock factor that you're about to have one of the greatest experiences known to man

Heya, Rob, just want to add my welcome to the mix. There's a great bunch of people here, and a top-notch crew of Dream Guides, so kick off your shoes, make yourself at home, and don't hesitate to ask any questions!

And just to reiterate what Joe said, it's very common to wake up as soon as you become lucid in a dream. Joe's advice is right on the money -- when you realize you're dreaming, just remain calm and try to involve your senses in the dream -- look at things closely (looking at your hands is usually good for a laugh), touch something, taste something -- you get the idea. If you have already experienced lucidity, however brief, "many many times" as you said, then learning to stabilize the dream and ultimately control it should not be terribly difficult for you.

hey guys thanks for the info,

last nite wen i went to sleep i had another dream and several times i realised i was dreaming (because of dreamsigns) and i seemed to jsut forget about it and continued my dream...

when i look back i wish i had taken control more, but i guess tonight i shall find out!

over one week my dreams are getting more and more realistic, and its all from just thinking about dreaming before sleeping. i guess it just comes naturally to me?
