      I have to FLY!

ok, im 16, and I first heard of lucid dreaming 2 years ago, and thought it was the coolest thing ever. befeore learning about LD, i had never had one, and ive always been good at recalling my dreams. Since 2 years ago, ive tried all the techniques to lucid dreaming, and i still havent had one. I even stoped trying and forgot all about it, then remembered it a few months later, and i still didnt have one. I think one of the main reasons is that i have ADD, and i just cant keep focused long enough to fully try. The one thing that has worked for me a little is listening to audio to induce LD, or to put u in a meditative state(Gateway Expieriance, Monroe Institute). If anyone has a good LD induction audio file or song, please, please, PLEASE send it to me or give me a link or something, it would be most appreciated.( exept things that will play in Quicktime, please)

the reason I feel like I have to have a lucid dream is because of my obbsesion of flying. I believe that would be the ultimate expieieance for a human, to fly unasisted through the sky, and I think Lucid Dreaming is the key to humanity's long-wished for goal. i HAVE to do this, I HAVE to expieriance a lucid dream. so please, im begging you, please help me in any way you can. thank U. ps. anybody who has had them, plese tell me about your dreams. Ive had like 2, and I want to see what others flying dreams are like. thanks

I've tried flying three times, and believe me, it's not as easy as it sound. You're probably picturing Superman or Neo doing crazy stuff. The fact is, you need a great amount of control to fully enjoy it.
And since you never had an LD before, it wouldn't be a bad idea to start training for easier tasks.
The first time i tried, i couldn't really fly, but i was able to float in my room, i though that was really cool, but i soon got vey excited and i woke up. The second time, i tried to jump off the window, but i couldn't help thinking "what if this is real!?", and i woke up right after i jumped... The third time, i was able to last longer, but i didn't really enjoy it. Now I prefer to simply walk around and meet characters, I get more control and the LD lasts longer, which is way more interesting than simply get excited in the air.

I suggest you have a Dream Journal and do a lot Reality Checks during the day. How's your dream recall?

Welcome to the forum. As Unicorn said, start small and work your way up. Flying is one of those things that takes a whole lot of work. And you haven't LDed yet, and I don't think having such a lofty aspiration at this moment is helping you. First, learn to LD. Then, learn to do smaller things and work your way up to flying. Don't worry. With enough hard work, you can do this. And if you need anything, you can always ask.
      Shine on, you crazy diamond!

Having a good DR means that, in normale circumnstances, you can remember at least one dream per night, if not more. The easiest way to do so is to have a DJ and keep it updated daily. It doesn't matter if you don't remember all your dream, just write down whatever crosses your mind, even your emotions.

When you'll be able to remember your dream, you should condition yourself to make Realitiy Checks (see the tutorials if these terms are new to you).
      Don't give up.

I don't think that flying is too hard, but everyone is different. I've had more non-lucid flying dreams than lucid ones, though. The biggest thing is just knowing that you can and will be able to do anything you want. Don't doubt yourself. Just do it.

I had my first LD 3 weeks after coming here, so if it takes time don't get too frustrated. Stress is actually counter-productive to dreams, so just relax and know that you will have an LD.

SIde note: my very first flying dream was done to the tune of "I believe I can fly." My sister used to listen to the radio when she slept when we were young so I think it kind of permeated. I ended up doing this "routine" which I found rather amusing.
