      Hello everybody

Hello there. I'm very new in this LDing, but I swear that I'm not gonna give up until I have one. For tonight, what is the best n00b tip? I can recall my dreams already.

I'm planning to do WBTB. But perhaps, I shall combinate it with, like VILD or FILD or MILD or WILD? What is the best?

Hey there, and welcome. I recommend using MILD with WBTB -- that has worked well for me, and a lot of others too.

When you're first going to sleep at night, repeat to yourself "I will awaken after I dream, and I will remember the dream". Then after your WBTB, when going back to sleep, repeat "I will realize that I am dreaming" or "The next thing I experience will be a dream".

Don't give up if it doesn't work the first few times -- it usually takes some repitition before your brain gets the idea. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Okay! It's just that, I've tried MILD some times before. And it's like this:

I keep thinking that I'm gonna realize that I'm dreaming, keep thinking, keep thinking, I'm gonna realize that I'm dreaming, keep thinking, and then I fall asleep. The next day I wake up, and nothing happened. I had an ordinary dream and didn't one single time think that It was a dream.

I mean, with WILD and those stuffs it feels easier in a way because it feels like I have a better chance. With MILD, it's just to think "I'm gonna realize that I'm dreaming" and then hope for the best.

Well, everyone is different, and WILD may work better for you than it has for me. But when you say you've tried MILD, how much of a chance did you give it? If it was only a day here and there, then I think you should give it more of a chance -- like work on it for a week or two straight before you decide it won't work for you.

And the most important thing, no matter what method you use, is to be confident. When you say "I will realize that I'm dreaming", really believe it! If you have any doubts at all, it can destroy any chance you have of becoming lucid.

Well, no, I haven't tried MILD very much. But I'm so tense and I really want to have a LD now, and then MILD doesen't seem like the most radical solution.

      Edit.

It's just that I think I'm to impatient to try for two weeks. I'll completely quit after the first five tries or so.

Don't give up so easily! I'm afraid you won't get anywhere by not allowing yourself adequate time to test these techniques. Tygrhawk gave some great advice - I've had the most success with MILD and WBTB, too. Unfortunately, LDing requires some effort so you have to be willing to put in the time. Good luck with everything - and welcome to the forum, by the way!

lucid dreaming is rarely for the impatient.

MILD with WBTB is usually one of the better techniques for most people.

when you wake up after 4-5 hours of sleep, try to remember your last dream. incorporate this into your MILD.

for instance, if you dreamt you met a deceased relative without catching on, replay the scene in your head, but this time imagine that you realize "hey, X is dead....i must be dreaming!!", and then imagine yourself doing a simple, short action which you would like to perform while lucid, such as flying.

it took me a couple months to get half decent at LDIng...solid, unbroken effort. put in the time now, and you will be repaid eventually....learn it well, and you never lose it.

lucid dreaming is easily one of the most righteous activities imaginable...it wouldn't really make sense if it was supereasy to learn

.though in some respect it is fairly easy to learn..its more a matter of discipline than anything.

sweet dreams..., its WELL worth it

Well, I didn't succeed tonight. I thought while lying to bed "I'll dream, I'll remember my dream and I'll wake up after dreaming", but I didn't wake up. Fortunelately, I had my alarm on. But when I woke up I couldn't remember my dream. So I just told myself "I'll dream, and I'll realize that I'm dreaming" and fell asleep again. But then I woke up again, with no LD.

One thing, when I woke up, I remembered my first dream that I had before the alarm woke me.

Well, I guess I'll just have to try tonight again. A little frustrated, but, if this is gonna take time, I'll just have to let it take time.

that's the spirit...no reason you couldn't have one tonight. getting frustrated doesn't help anything, whereas staying positive is very helpful (though, believe me, i know it can be hard at first )

that's a very good thing! it shows that your dreams are starting to have "staying power", and don't just evaporate for good as soon as you wake up.

stay positive...when you start having lucids you'll be so glad you put in the time now...good luck!
