      Help Remembering Dreams

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I could not see a relative forum apart from Dream Recall but I was not sure what that meant.

Well, I'd say for the past two years or so I can NEVER (and I mean never) remember my dreams. Heck, it's like not even having any, even though I know I have them. This is so frustrating as I love dreams. I recently remember having a nightmare. The nightmare was related in something very close to me that I don't want to get in to, but I knew the nightmare was a possible reality.

Anyway, back on-topic is there anyway for me to remember my dreams? I wouldn't mind waking up at 5 in the morning it is just my mum and dad would get pissed with my alarm going off every night.

If this is any help to answer as to why I can't remember dreams, here it is:

      - I spend ALOT of time at the computer. Well over 8 hours a day.
      - I'm not really stressed but do get frustrated very easily.
      - I listen to the radio at night and fall asleep with it on
      - I think about life when I go to sleep.
      - I sometimes watch TV before sleeping
      - I sometimes read before sleeping.

I am really liking the idea of Lucid Dreaming but needing to remember my dreams is the first step, which I can't do.

      Thanks,

      Chris

Hey there and welcome to the forum!

I would really recommend that you keep yourself a Dream Journal, and write down anything that you can remember, even if it is something simple. Eventually, your recall is going to rocket. Afterwards, you might want to check out the tutorials section.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for the fast reply. It is not that I can't be bothered to wake up early and record my dreams, it is the fact that no matter what time I wake up or how hard I think, I NEVER remember them. I don't know what is wrong. I want to keep a dream journal, but There's nothing I can record down.

Then before you face the day, maybe you should think about it for a while in bed, and maybe you'll remember something. Is it something that you would normally do, like maybe sports? Was it something extraordinary? Think about those things and you should recall at least some.

I have tried that before, but nothing. All I remember is my last moment before sleeping and waking up. I suppose I'll have to keep trying until I get something.

Maybe you could try waking yourself up during the time you are LDing....maybe with a computer alarm clock and headphones, so only you can hear it.

Sorry, but what do you mean by LDing?

If you mean Lucid Dreaming, then I don't have LDs. Heck, It feels like I never dream.

      Dear Phatal Desire,

      Super-hydrate!

Drink a great quantity of water before going to sleep... so much that it almost guarantees that you must get up at the end of each REM Cycle in order to urinate. Many of your dreams may involve seeking out a bathroom, but since you will be waking up at the end of each REM Cycle, there is an awfully good chance that you will remember your dreams.

However, there may be something of a psychological spiritual problem involved. You mentioned Nightmare. You may be under something of a curse. The dreams you are indeed having may be very horrifying and you may be avoiding their remembrance.

Think back. What did you do wrong? Whom did you piss off?

Also, one needs to examine the Purpose of Dreaming. The Higher Mind that creates the Dreams is endeavoring for our uplift and improvement. We are supposed to go through our dreams attempting to make the best possible choices. Whenever we chose badly, then we have recurrent dreams -- this is so that we can have multiple chances to catch what we are doing wrong and to correct ourselves. But what happens if we should choose to deliberately go against the program, and to ignore all the hints, clues and oracles in our dreams that are being applied to us for our improvement, and instead we are doing almost exactly the opposite. Then it happens that the Higher Mind decides upon a policy that could be called "Screw Him Then".

It has happened to many Lucid Dreamers convinced that their mission in Life was to entirely cut out the Higher Mind's Influence upon their Dreams, by exercising an absolute Lucid Control upon all Dream Content. The Higher Mind's Revenge was to cut off Dreaming at the level of Dream Recall. Again, the Policy of "Screw Him Then".

What you might want to do is consciously suggest, over and over again, that you apologize for whatever it was that you had done, and resolve to behave properly in your dreams and to consciously abide by the clues, hints and oracles given to you in dreams, and that you will act for the Good of Humanity and for your own Spiritual Uplift. You must renounce Evil and take up the swords and shields of Righteousness. and then hope that the Higher Mind is not too entirely petty and vindictive.

Thanks for that amazing reply. I will be sure to drink a lot of water tonight, although I have a few questions and answers.

By drinking so much water and needing the toilet, wont that make me prone to wetting the bed? I really don't want to do that

Secondly, regarding the nightmare, it was more of my dad getting hurt then myself getting hurt. Recently, my family and our neighbour have been fighting. So much as we have had to call the police several times. The nextdoor neighbour has mental problems and gets himself drunk almost every night. He does crazy things sometimes which scare me. Although being 14, nearly 15, I have very, how people my age would say, chicken. I see a bad shadow in my room, I will feel uncomfortable the rest of the night. Although I do not want to believe in the paranormal, my mind forces to believe it is their and out to hurt me.

Back to the nightmare, the nightmare was short, maybe only a few seconds long but yet was detailed. Well, I was at the computer, like normal, when my dad came running outside going that stupid cow. (He said that to our other neighbour who is on our side and provokes the crazy guy). The next thing I hear is a loud bang. It sounded like a stone hitting a fence or a gun. The next thing I realise is I'm awake crying my eyes out almost screaming.

It was terrafying but looking back on it, I am fine with it.

That's the last dream/nightmare I seem to remember.
