      Hello, Salut, Salvete

Hey there, m'names Leslie but since my username is solieus you can call me that, too. I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada and stumbled upon your site. I'm, obviously, new here and hope to discover a litte more about myself while I'm here.

ANYways, I read the whole dreamviews site last night before getting to the forums and I'm super interested. I only have had 1 lucid dream in my recollection and it was a loong time ago, I think I was 6 or so. It was kinda funny if you want to hear the story, it was a nightmare at first (this tiger was trying to get into the house) but I realized "I'm dreaming! Whoa!" and, of all things, I put up one of those gates you get for babies so they don't fall downstairs (we had some for keeping the dogs out of certain rooms) and lo and behold, it kept that huge kitty out. Never once thought of closing the door and simply locking it, lol! 'Twas more like I was putting up some kinda wall but it was, supposedly, only as big as the little gate but the tiger never got through.

And since then I've had just normal dreams, sometimes a lot, sometimes not. I started up a dream journal some time ago but I only wrote in it dreams I remembered when I woke up in the morning, and it had entries maybe every day of one week and then a huge gap for months then another quick spurt.

Last night was different, though. I actually tried thinking "I'll wake up after every dream cycle and remember my dreams fully" and I woke up around 5:40 or so. I wrote down two dreams then went back to sleep, slowly. I think I remember some 10 or 12 dreams but theyre all pretty mushed together now. I only wrote down 2 or 3, after that it was almost morning and I wanted to just sleep. I was getting to sleep pretty slowly and was more aware of things than normal, even to the point of "hey am I dreaming or not yet?" then my cat came in and woke me up. grr! Amazingly, I'm not tired from all these wakings up and goings back to sleep. I hope it doesn't stop, though, watch it only happen once.

And, I think, I definitely have this inkling, that I dreamt in french last night. English is my mother tongue but I started learning french in gr 7 and I'm finishing off gr 11 now. Never happened before now. I don't remember the dream itself, just me thinking about it after the fact. It probably means nothing but it kinda freaked me out, I've been really mixing up the two languages recently, swapping back and forth and reverse-translating things like "deja vu" to "already seen". Sometimes I swear I'm more comfortable with french than english.

Anyways, that's my life story and everything I can think of for a first post. Oh, I am learning a third language, latin, on my own for the heck of it so that explains the salvete (which means "be well!")

Unfortunately I'll only be here until the end of june. In july and august I'm going off to a summer camp to get a glider's pilot's licence through something we call the royal canadian air cadets of canada. I'll bring my dream journal with me and hopefully I'll get back to you guys in the fall! Til then, I can still do a lot here since exams are half finished and I have nothing else ot do!

      That's All!

Hey there and welcome to the forum! Glad you found the site! Congrats on leaving for your pilot's license - be sure to remember us when you get back!

Sounds like you're having great success with your journal - keep up the great work! Isn't it interesting to go back and read your past dreams? I forgot most of mine until I re-read them, then it all comes flooding back.

I'm surprised you haven't dreamed in French before now, since you've been taking classes for so long. When I was taking Spanish classes, I'd dream some of it in Spanish - but only really minor things because I'm not fluent at all. Still cool, though.

      Anyway, good luck with everything!
