      Finally came here

Hi! My friend told me about this site some 6 months ago, but the problem with me is that I'm very lazy, so although I found this most interesting I was to lazy to read it and finally start exploring my dreams. He told me of this because I often talked to him about my dreams, since we both remember much of them. I already experienced some lucid dreaming but failed to remain in them for much longer then a few seconds, I have one lucid dream every month I would say, and (when I'm not under a lot of stress) I'm capable of remembering up to 3 dreams from one night. As I read here, this is a good start to enter the world of lucid dreaming and I hope I will not be too lazy to do so. I find dreams extremely exciting except my nightmares, wich where sometimes combined with false awakenings and made me wake up screaming, i.e. it was pretty scary to see my dead grandfather, in my room, staring at me after I thought I woke up. And very nice when I once (I believe) gained control over my dream for a short period of time and managed to kiss a girl I liked for a long time before waking up...
One more thing, I would like to ask if it is possible that I gained control over my dreams since I haven't done any of the steps that are described here, but I think it did happen several times over the past few years. It lasted very short though.
Well, I'm glad to be here and I wish you all pleasant dreams.

      Welcome to the forum!

It definitely sounds like you're ready to learn more about LDing. Yes, it's possible to control your dreams (whether it a lot or a little) - which is LDing is so sought-after. Knowing you're dreaming and being able to control it - that's the goal. However, you can have control over a dream without being lucid, just as you can be lucid and not have any control.

And it also sounds like your recall is great! Did you currently keep a dream journal? If not, that is your first official homework assignment. Keep a spiral notebook, Word document, PDA, voice recorder - whatever floats your boat - just get those dreams recorded somehow! Recording your dreams will allow you to recognize common themes and patterns in your dreams, and therefore play to your strengths to become lucid.

If you haven't checked out the tutorials yet, that is an excellent place to start. And if you enjoy reading books (especially before bed), I'd highly recommend Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge, commonly refered to as EWOLD on this forum.

Please feel free to post any questions or experiences you may have. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks, I feel welcome already. And no, I wasn't keeping a dream journal, I've recoreded only one dream which was very interesting. I wrote it down on a paper and as I was writing it down the detail I could remember was amazing, the complete A4 sized paper was covered in text and some sketches of the places I've seen. The main reason I recorded this dream is because I've experienced deja vus in it, a really strange feeling, kept me thinking about it all day. Since that dream I've felt this a few more times, sometimes it even seemed like I'm living another life there. It's like I would remember feeding my dying pet pigeon every day until it died or remember some locations and characters (strange I know, but most of my dreams are situated in post-apocalyptic age; you know permanent dusk, trash all over the place, filth and corruption). When I was reading through the dream sings article I laughed when I read about light switches not working, because in that dream I tryed several of them and none would work. I wonder if anyone else has had simillar experiences? (the deja vu part) I'd like to hear it.
