I got in here through google, when I was researching on lucid dreams.

So, hello from me. My name is Erik, I live in Denmark and I love to sleep I believe I will have a great time in here

Well yeah, I've got several questions, but I think I will get those answers in my first LD. Mostly stuff like "How does it feel to get melt?" and such

I've not had an LD so far (atleast not where I was aware what I could've done in the said situation), but I am doing good process. I am recalling my dreams better and better, and I do no longer have problems sleeping.

I'm looking forward to explore this skill

Uh oh, I've actually got a question for everyone in the forum, or at least those who read this thread.

What were you doing in your first LD? And when did you wake up? What made you wake up? I am sure I can keep calm, (everytime I do my RC checks when awake, I also tell me self to stay calm) when it comes to my mind, that I am dreaming, but I am afraid I'll do something stupid and have an FA or wake up. If I can walk a bit around in the world, without doing big things, I might get used to it all faster, which is certainly what I want. A 10 second lucid dream of nothing, wouldn't be worthe much. That's at least what I think

      Thanks in advance

Well mate, in my first LD I ran. And tried to make a girl dissapear. It was a DILD.

I woke up when I tried to make the girl dissapear, I closed my eyes to do it (Imagining her gone) but woke up. So I was lucid for around a minute

Needless to say, it was pretty low level lucidity, but It felt great.

      EDIT:

With that mindframe it'll get tough. If you expect your LD's to be boring, or be afraid that you will do something stupid, you most likely will. In my second LD, I tried to do a RC, but I was so used to it failing in real life, it didn't work, and I was frozen to the spot beccause of it. I wasted a LD because I thought I couldn't do it.

Dreams are, basically, things from your brain. Your brain takes your thought's and adds them to ddreams. If you miss a loved one, they might appear in a dream, just as if you think something will fail in a dream, it will.

Go to bed with a positive mind fram, eg, You CAN LD, You WON'T fail, etc etc.

      Thanks for the motivation

I'm certainly not on a badmindframe. Maybe I used the wrong words for the other post.

You say you're afraid you'll do something stupid- unfortnately, that can carry over to LD's. A classic example is "Uh oh, I hope there's not a monster around the corner!" And there it is.

Can I turn that around and say "Uh, I hope I won't fly in 2 seconds" and then I will?

So yeah, this evening I tried the VILD method. Modyfied a bit.
I read some of the Da Vinci Code, until I felt very sleepy. I could barely keep my eyes open. After that, I used the "concentrate-on-breath" method. I got totally relaxed and I felt almost paralyzed. But suddently, my heart started to beat more, just as the parelyzed feeling hit me, and I had to breath more, breaking the concentration and the paralyzed feeling. I couldn't get back into the same concentration, so instead, I set my watch so wake me 2½ hours before normal.
I decided to do the FAT (I think that's what it is called), but when I woke up, I looked a bit around. I knew that I had to do some techniques, but the incredible urge to sleep stopped me. I went back to sleep, and I had some "normal" dreams

But my question is: when I was focusing on my breath and I got the paralyzed feeling, I suddently had to breath more. Did that also happen to you? And when did you get used to it? The paralyzed feeling was actually great and weird at the same time. I think the feeling of something I've never felt, made my heart beat even more, increasing the need to breath.
So, did this happen to others in here aswell, and when did you get used to it?
I had a feeling that I easily could incubate a dream, when I was in that certain state, but yeah, then I had to breath, breaking the concentration

      Thanks in advance

Good job practicing different techniques, and modifying them for your personal use. This will definitely increase your chances of LDing.

You were worried that you'd do something stupid and lose lucidity - I'd recommend just looking at your hands, or leaning against a wall to stabilize and maintain lucidity. When you feel it's right, go and try something - anything. Know that It's your dream so you control it.
