      Quick Question?

      Hello,
I'm brand new at this (just found the site about 45 minutes ago) and find it extremely interesting. I've had dreams before where I knew I was dreaming and have always been fascinated with dreams. I'd love to practice LD but have one main problem...... I'm a very sound sleeper and only remember my dreams occasionaly. I'm also married and would be in fear of bodily harm if I set an alarm clock to wake myself up during the night, as my wife is a very light sleeper. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm such a sound sleeper that I sometimes don't even hear the alarm clock.... Thanks in advance for any advice...
Brian.... P.S. Just kidding about the bodily harm thing.. she wouldn't be happy though... lol..

Well, once I woke myself up by setting my cell phone alarm, putting it on vibrate, and sticking it in the elastic of my pants. That way, when I woke up, i didn't bother my sleeping roommate. I did jerk awake pretty quickly though, because it startled me.

      Welcome!! Here, have some bananas!

Oh yeah, and as far as your question, you could always have a dream journal, which will increase your dream recall. And for waking up, try MILD.It should wake you up every two hours or so if done right.Go to the tutorials for further information.
      You guys suck.

Bro, the only thing i can think of is: being that she is a light sleeper i'm sure that she wakes up occasionally during the night... tell her when ever she wakes up (if she can remember) to wake u up so u can possibly rem what u were dreaming. and keep a pen and paper next to the bed.. just jot down a word or 2 that will triger a memory of that dream...

      WELCOME GANDALF522!!!!!

You might not have a great dream recall right now, but as you keep on practicing it and writing down your dreams, you will see it evolve and will hopefully be able to remember several dreams per night....

It won't necesarily work but you can also try to set your biological clock to wake you up 6 hours after fell asleep. Before going to bed repeat that to yourself several times, not just saying it, but believing it, and it might just work. Or you could always try what ashlie said

      P.S. Good luck!
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

      Welcome !!!!

Yeah, I have the same problem, my wife is a sound sleeper. but.....hope is not lost!

Give this a try: Before bed, dring 3 glasses of water.

      You will wake up!
When you relieve yourself, drink 3 more.

I always wake up at 3am when nature calls!

Your wife may get a little annoyed at doing this every night... but then again it may work!

I also like Seeker idea...drinking water would be the most silent way to wake yourself up!

The water technique is great I used it several times. The only hard part is forcing the water down when you are not thirsty.

      Welcome to the forums!

Once I had a water drinking contest with a friend. First one to give up lost the match. We drank about 8 cups of water each, until his mom saw us and told us to stop. Not only did we have to lay down for about an hours without moving much, we also had to go to the bathroom about 20 times in a couple of hours...

It was fun, It felt like you were swimming, but on the inside...

Alaurast78 is right! Somewhere after around 15 glasses, you start to flush too many electrolites out of your blood. Really nesses with your potassium balance!

We didn't feel like it was very healthy after we did it

That is something I will never try again...most likely...

Water is a very mysterious substance...
