      just a brief introduction

      Hi everyone, how are you?

just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been interested in lucid dreaming ever since I was a kid (chalk it up to overexposure to Alice in Wonderland XD), but I just had my first LD the other night. It was funny because I actually gave up on trying to get a LD, and then suddenly out of the blue, it happened. After I woke up, I kept wondering if I'd actually had a lucid dream or just dreamt I had a lucid dream because I wanted one so badly ;D V. mind-bendy.

Anyway, this seems like such a great and informative forum, so...yes. I'll just leave off there :3

      Hey, welcome to the board!
that's what usually happens with lucid dreaming, if you try too hard, nothing happens. When you stop obsessing over it, it comes naturally.

Hey Engler - congrats on your first LD

Yup, stress is counterproductive when it comes to becoming lucid and it's a common mistake with newbies who just want to have one so bad. It even effects those who have experience with LDs as well, unfortunately Sometimes the best thing to do is take a little 'vacation' from LDing to let your guard down and have it just happen.

So anyway, care to share a little bit about the dream? What techniques were you trying before you actually became successful?

      Thanks for the welcome, guys!

Yeah, I guess I didn't think stress would be that counterproductive :X I guess I was wrong though

I posted an account of my LD at http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34891. It was kind of entertaining, methinks ;D As for the techniques, I hadn't been actually v. well-versed in techniques since I hadn't done that much heavy research; before I had the LD I hadn't read about WILD or anything like that.

Actually, I didn't even believe that I would be able to have an LD :X Since my subconscious misbehaves (never gets me to wake up when I want it to ). So, before I had the LD, I'd just heard of the DILD & doing reality checks, and then just recently (read: 2 days before the LD) I had gotten into the habit of inspecting my hands whenever I went to pick something up or when I was washing my hands in the restroom. I guess it paid off somehow

I have a quick question actually: what exactly is the "pulse" that occurs toward the end of WILD? I was trying it last night and unfortunately I let it go away because I got to excited. But it felt really neat. XD Actually I aborted it so prematurly it stopped around my midsection, I think, like someone had turned off the scanner Anyway, I didn't want to make a needless other thread about this Though maybe I ought to, if other people have the same question. Thanks in advance
