I have only experienced one lucid that I can remember. I was young and I was at my grandparent’s house. I remember just waking up out of the bed, walking around the house. Nothing out of the ordinary. It was cool that I had control of my dream, but I was too young to realize it's true potential for fun. That was several years ago. I really never had thought of it before after that. I just dreamt and left it at that. I later came onto this site that people told their dreams. Was actually looking for a good journal to buy, and I googled "Dream Journal". After reading a couple of entries, I found one that caught my eye. He said he had a dream where he had complete control. Ridicules, I thought! If you had complete control, you could do ANYTHING. I thought that was just a hoax to get people to believe that he was special. Well, in his entry, he did mention something about lucid dreaming. So I thought, what the heck and Googled it. That's how I got here. I read the intro to the page, and it all seemed to be to good to be true. I continued to read the entire page on lucid dreaming. W W! This was true! People can control their dreams! Just that thought alone made me want this. But I was still a little skeptical. I began to read around the form, particularly the “lucid dreams” section. I was amazed! People left and right were having these; even those who only practiced for a month got their first one. They sounded so excited. I HAD to do this!

This will be a journey I will never forget. It'll be a long one, possibly hard, but I will get this done!

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step! I'm looking forward to the outcome
      !

Great introduction, chzplz! I'm glad you decided to register here. This forum will give you all the information and help you need to start lucid dreaming, and learn how to control them (and with none of the new age crap that other lucid dreaming forums have).

First things first - start a dream journal, if you haven't already. This is a must for improving your recall and recognizing patterns.

Next, check out the available tutorials. Especially the Quick Start tutorial. Start trying different techniques and see where it takes you.

Utilize the Search function at the top of the page. There are soooo many excellent threads hidden within the forum, especially to answer frequently asked questions.

Please feel free to post any questions or experiences you may have. Get familiarized with the forum, so you'll know the appropriate area of the forum to post your questions.

I love your avatar, by the way. Cute little Simba with an iPod.

      Good luck and have fun!

Hey, thanks a lot Burns. I like that avatar too. I absolutely love the Lion King! My Favorite movie!
Also, thanks for the warm welcome. I plan on staying here for a while, and learning everything I can. I also look forward to the first day I have a lucid dream. One of my first lucid dreams that I want to have is for me to be a character in the lion king. Is it possible to change that much in a dream? I know you can fly, be anywhere you want to be, but change the reality into a cartoon? It sounds like it would take a lot of training.

I have another question. How do I change the topic of my dream journal? Like, now it says, The journey of a thousand miles, begins with the first step, and I would like to change it when I get some more progress on lucid dreaming. I want everyone to know I've had my first lucid dream.

Anything is possible in a lucid dream! That's the wonderful thing about it. However, having enough control over a dream to transform yourself or your surroundings can take A LOT of practice. But it's definitely possible. Start small and work your way up. You'll only get better with practice.

Don't expect to have full-out control right away, or even to have a lucid dream right away. It happens quickly for some people - within days or a couple weeks, but it can take a lot longer for other people - several months. But don't get discouraged - everyone is different so you'll need to go at your own pace - trying too hard can be counterproductive.

Maybe you should try some dream incubation - that is, before going to sleep, close your eyes and visualize what you want to dream about. See your surroundings and everything in it. Concentrate on how it makes you feel. By incubating the visualization, you have a better chance of dreaming about it.

You should be able to edit the first post in any thread you make, including the title.

Hey, if anybody is reading this, I really need help. This is the second night in a row that I couldn't remember my dreams. I woke up fine during the night, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't remember my dreams. On the 3rd and 4th I remembered them just fine. I wrote them down, and everything was fine. Now I can't seem to remember a single one. Please help me!

It may be that you are just too excited, or you may have some external factor affecting your recall. I find my recall is really sporadic. I am going to send you a PM showing you what I mean.

Yet another night without dream recall. I try hard at night, I really do. But nothing seems to be helping. I did wake up sometime last night, and I did vaguely remember the dream I had, but as soon as I went to write it down, it left me. I tried again and again to remember, but I only got small images. I gave up after ten minutes and went back to sleep. I woke up rarely in the morning, and still didn't remember any dreams. So I went back to sleep. I woke up about fifteen minutes ago, and I still don't remember any dreams. Jeeze, I wake up three times, and I don't remember one dream. I remember the first two nights doing this I could remember three dreams every night, now I can't remember one. It's not really aggravating now. It just happens. I've got to accept it.

      Any help please?

Ok, ok, breathe. Just don't worry:

"The only time someone can truely fail at learning lucid dreaming is when they give up or die. And even then I'm not sure about die!"

Relax about the dreaming, trying to force too many dreams does more harm than good; I remember a time where I trid to force many different awakenings during REM in one night. I didn't have a single dream, as opposed to about 4 vivid and highly cool ones that last night. It was that ambition that ruined my next night. Get a good night sleep and wake yourself up during rem sleep is the best way to remember dreams.

Its good that you are keeping a journal.

As for inducing lucidity, I would personally reccomend the WTBT (Wake-back-to-bed) method coupled with MILD (Mnemonic-induced-lucid-dream). I would chill for a night that start working on that. That should get you results in no time.

By the way, did you know that The Lion King uses two South African languages? They are Xhosa and Sotho, and are two of the 11 official languages here in SA.

The most common is Afrikaans a relative of dutch and similar to Flemish - example: Hier is 'n voorbeeld van 'n sin in Afrikaans "This is an example of a sentence in Afrikaans

      followed by Zulu:
example: Nkosi sikalele iAfrika "God bless Afrika"

      and then Xhosa
example: Andifuna "I don't want it"

I speak only english and afrikaans, sorry...

      I am from South Africa

      Thumbs up

Can anybody out there credit this site? It says it has a program that will guarantee you having at least one lucid dream by the first week, and it claims you can have many more a week in a month. Does anybody know anything about this? It sure seems good, but at a price of $60, it would be great to hear from someone in the dream views forum. Here's the link:

Don't buy anything that claims to induce lucid dreams. You are perfectly capable of having them without outside influences.

The only thing I'd recommend you spending money on it Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge, which is a book commonly referred to on this forum, and other LDing forums.

Just be patient, try new things, and keep practicing. You'll get there. No worries.
