Hello everyone. My name is Becca. I have been involuntarily lucid dreaming for about 25 years now. I am 39. I normally fly or have dreamt OBE's and I am able to achieve some control over my actions in them. However, occassionally, I have nightmarish ones that terrify the heck out of me. Last night was the first night that I could actually do something in the nightmare lucid dreams. There were skulls and bones that were inanimate attacking my head, I writhed out of bed and after several false awakenings and failed attempts to wake up, I grabbed the base of my oscillating fan to try to mutilate my head so that the bones and skulls would vanish and leave me alone. That did not work, so I finally just started praying and begging for God to please wake me up. I eventually woke up through about 4 or 5 more false awakening attempts, but not without being emotionally and mentally unscathed. I was too terrified to go back to sleep. I do so wish that I could learn how to exercise as much control in my nightmarish lucid dreams as I do my good ones. I do not keep a dream journal and do not wish to because my sleep is interrupted enough. I hope this makes sense to you guys and gals. I guess what I am hoping for is someone to offer some support of some kind or offer suggestions, on what I don't know, because I am at a total loss. Please help me somehow someone.

Thank You Ever So Much Everyone

As it was a LD why don't you change the scene and make it less scary?

Hi neospyce, what you need to remember is that when you have an LD the only limitation in your imagination, just keep that in mind when you have a "lucid nightmare". You can change the scene as NeAvO suggested, or fight of these skulls in any way you want.

Also, just keep telling yourself that nothing can hurt you as it is only a dream.

Yeah what always helps me is to declare that "my head made all of this, therse no way it can scare me that bad" and than try and face your fear, since it is created by you and you alone.

Hello everyone. A much better day today. Turns out that this dream was a symbolism and very prophetic down to the tee. I am much happier and elated and I have to say that prayer was the answer becuase everything turned out just as intended. You see, the trick to solving the problem in the particular dream was to stop being worried and to let a higher power have control which is what i did and how i was finally able to awake and it is what solved a problem that had been bothereing me for several weeks. So thank you for all of your input. Hugs.

hi Neo! Glad you finally got on the forum

Good to hear you got your issue resolved. I hope some of the things we discussed in chat yesterday helped you out as well. It sounds like it may have. Not fighting the aggressor in your dream and just accepting it or embracing it leads you to stop fearing which essentially makes the "monster" go away.
