      Why Didn't I Go Lucid?

I nearly got there last night, and I can clearly remember thinking something along the lines of "It's a good job I'm dreaming" and "I'm bored, and I want to wake up" sort of thing. But I still couldn't control what I was doing, if you know what I mean. When I woke up this morning, I had to use all my energy just to move my arm, and of course, once I had moved I was fine! What the heck is this all about?

Well, first thing sounds like you were on the edge of a fullblown LD. Sometimes no matter how badly we want to, our brains will not let us get lucid.

The thing about moving your arm sounds to me like you werer still al little bit in sleep paralysis.

I've only experienced two full-blown sleep paralysis episodes. It felt like my entire body was so heavy that no matter how hard I tried, I could not raise a head or arm. Really cool!

thanks. sleep paralysis does feel cool, but it is annoying. can you prevent it?

Not that I know of. I welcome it. The second time I was in sleep paralysis, I was able to WILD.

When you are in paralysis, you are over 75% of the way to being asleep.

Good idea! All of the funky sensations people experience when WILDing are caused by the body entering sleep paralysis.

      Good luck!

That does sound like you were on the verge of an LD.

      One will be coming soon.

The technical term would be sleep paralysis. It just means you are partly asleep.

You should see me try to write in my journal during the night when I still have partial paralysis. I usually can't read it in the morning.
