      Hey all,
      I discovered the theory of lucid dreaming from being a user of BrainWave Generator, and decided LD was an amazing thing to utilise and have fun with. I am not a very able person in things 'out of the ordinary'... for some unknown reason. I began to realise this when I remembered my dreams were not 'completely' first person, or as it so seems the best word for it... and when I dream it does not seem like any 'variant reality', just some random thought which cannot be controlled. I am a deep sleeper who cannot be awoken all too easily; my alarm clock cannot awake me up (lol), and I move a lot in my sleep.

      Rarely I get a dream which can truely be called a dream, about once a week if I am lucky. I seem so unfortunate, though, I have only just found this site yesterday, and truly found out what LD actually is. My first try with the DILD technique, and any ILD method for that matter, was last night. I popped on an mp3 of LD test preset for BWG, laid down on my side and focused my thoughts on the line from a tutorial:
      <div align="center">I must remember to recognise that I am dreaming </div>

      I eventually fell asleep after a long time to try and get comfortable - I figure I was excited/anxious whatever, as it seemed all I had to do as remember that I was dreaming. I woke up late with my headphones by my thighs along with my PSP, my mind blank, and thought "Ah, crap. I knew this was going to be another of my failed ideas. *sigh*

      I remembered later that day when I was in the car with my dad driving that I must have dreamt something, as I remembered myself driving a car down a country road with my friends inside... though I am too young to drive and do not know how.

      Here I am now feeling pissed off, and have only other people to ask for guidance. I will try again, but is it hopeless? It feels so. I know it has only been a day but it felt like a lost cause from the start.

      Thankyou.

      Hey Cain, I&#39;m no experienced lucid dreamer, but from my few days of trying and from what I&#39;ve been reading it can take people anywhere from 2 days to develop the ability to anywhere over 8 months... I definitely wouldn&#39;t despair over one failed night. You should try saying "I will remember my dreams" or something along those lines out loud several times and then keep repeating the line in your head as you fall asleep. If you find your thoughts drifting try to focus back on that thought.

      Hello YMD02
      And Cain also&#33;

      I must remember to recognise that I am dreaming I believe I wrote that. But that is just it YMD02 --&#62; Believe&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#3 3;
      From your post you don&#39;t even believe what you are telling yourself. Autosuggestion works in mysterious ways. But you have to say this with conviction and also with the hopes it is real. It can happen.
      It can. That is why I posted that actual sentence. I said it over and over, thinking about what I was actually saying each time. (not easy) I may have been Lucky but I had success the first night.
      Good luck&#33;

      BTW -- Great avatar&#33;

      Dear Cain,

      I agree with Howtzer, you MUST believe. Autosuggestion can almost literally be translated to creating belief. Just take it from all of us here at this site, "it IS possible. It is TRUE. EVERYONE can do it. It is part of YOUR physical, biological, psychic and spiritual makeup." All of us can&#39;t be lying&#33;

      As well as keeping your negative thoughts and patterns in check and replacing them with positive and affirming ones, keeping a certain discipline (without straining) is important too. You MUST keep a Dream Journal and absolutely fall in love with it.

      I hear you saying, "but I DON&#39;T dream, or at least I wouldn&#39;t call them proper dreams" but I say back unto you that that is exactly what you write when you wake up (as soon as you do, don&#39;t be lazy, laziness does not generally pay off- and don&#39;t confuse relaxation with laziness either). It won&#39;t take long before you stop having to write down abstract ideas and feelings from your elusive nocturnal adventures upon waking until you have "proper dreams" to document. And don&#39;t knock your "improper dreams" either, they may be really special and effective in achieving not just lucidity but "other" weird and wonderful phenomena.

      My general advice would be: learn to love the process and become less fixated with the end result, because there is no end. And never beat your self up. A hundred people will all tell you, it WILL happen. When you finally tell yourself that and mean it, then the "wait" will soon be over.

      Dae,

      Rob.
