Hey guy,
Just a week ago I went to my Osteopath and said, "I can barely take these TMJ pains anymore. I have been wearing a splint (a guard you put in your mouth when you sleep) for a while now but it seems to be getting worse."
Surprisingly she said, to "throw it away" referring to my $1000 (Australian) piece of oral hardware. Apart from it interfering with ones biomechanical structure it does not actually treat the root of the problem. That root she suggests is anxiety, over-thinking and stress. She gave me a simple mantra to use each night as I fall asleep.
"I sleep with a relaxed jaw." That's it. I don't know if it is because I have worked with hypnosis before or not but the old familiar pain around my jaw, face and neck is just about completely gone! So, what a synchronicity that as my pain abetted you asked for help. She says that 90% of people who clench or grind their teeth have success in relieving the problem with that mantra!
Sleep well,
Rob.
