Hey.
My name is Jack, but my internet nickname is “Cutter”. A friend of mine told me about Lucid Dreams, and I was interested from the very start. I found this site via the Wikipedia article on Lucid Dreaming, and I’d love to be part of the forum. So, here I am.
Before I explain my dreams, there’s a special trait I have… In my dreams, and in my imagination, as well, I watch myself in 3rd person, like the camera in a video game. This may be a result of my absolute love for video games, but I haven’t heard anyone else sharing such a trait, so I consider it a lucky asset. Very, very rarely are my dreams in first person. Aside of that, I’m just your average adolescent who happens to be into Lucid Dreaming.
So far, I’ve had 2 Lucid Dreams. I’ll explain them in order, I guess.
While on vacation in Australia, I tried Lucid Dreams on several occasions. I eventually got it right… First, I should explain something. I had graduated from middle school, and High School was right around the corner after the summer vacation I was on at the time. So, I dreamt that I was in my old school, the library. The whole class was doing schoolwork of some kind, and I was dozing off, sitting in a chair. The teacher suddenly started yelling at me, and I realized that I was dreaming… Screw you, lady! I’m on vacation! You can’t hurt me!
Yes, school triggered the Lucid Dream. I grabbed my friend, who was there in the library, and someone else, and ran out of the library. As I did, the background instantly morphed into the “outside”, so I didn’t really move, but the scenery changed. Either way, I was outside. I tried creating a trampoline out of thin air, and did, successfully. Not a big trampoline, but one of those little ones that lets you jump just a little bit higher. I then tried flying.
I simply tried jumping really high, but it didn’t work. I tried making another trampoline, but nothing happened. I tried moving around, and could eventually materialize a trampoline, but right next to a tree, and if you jumped on it you’d jump into the branches and get scratched. I started jumping on the trampoline I had made before, in an attempt to launch myself into the air, but could only get as high as the school building itself.
Worried, I explained to my friend and the other person that I was having a Lucid Dream. An illogical conversation followed, which somehow lead me to saying to my friend, “you're a symbolic representation of yourself based on my own memories. You should know!” I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I could somehow understand it(yet cannot remember). I realized that I was waking up.
I didn’t know of any “spinning” methods or anything like that at the time, so I stopped talking and tried to do something, but to no avail. I simply woke up.
Finally, my most recent dream. I had a false awakening. It seemed so real. I woke up, as usual, and a computer materialized on my bed(yet somehow I wasn’t crushed >_>). I booted it up and started IMing several people. Eventually, I was in a 3-way conversation with an internet friend and someone else. I don’t remember exactly what they were saying, except for one part.
My friend said, “you must be having a Lucid Dream!”. Unfortunately, I had convinced myself that I was not dreaming. Then, a few seconds later, I awoke.
I never thought that a false awakening would be so realistic… Or convincing…
I’ve also had sleep paralysis and a few strange dreams several times throughout my life. Sleep paralysis happened a few times every year for several years, but it hasn’t happened in a while. I remember it distinctly, though. I’m watching myself(my dreams are third person), and yet I can’t move. It lasts for several (mental) hours, until I finally wake up.
The strange dreams happened when I was younger, but I haven’t had one in a while. I’m in my old house’s basement, facing the ground in first person. The tiles are dark-purple, and I’m floating. I feel like I weigh nothing. I’m floating up, away from the floor, but I then hit the ceiling and start getting sucked towards the floor. I suddenly feel heavy, dense, being affected by gravity. I hit the floor with a feeling beyond anything I’ve felt in real life… Like I just went through a brick wall. I then would wake up, remembering it distinctly, the sensation still numbing my skin.
In addition, in some dreams, there is a certain “aura”, a color to the whole thing. Sometimes it’s purple. Sometimes it’s blue. Either way, there is usually always an aura. My first Lucid Dream’s aura was yellow. The aura makes everything in the dream tinted slightly to the color of the aura. It’s strange.
And, because I feel like it, here are my goals in Lucid Dreaming. First of all, I wish to entertain myself, expose how good life really is, live out my fantasies, and face my fears. I’ll go into my fears first. I have self-diagnosed myself with Nyctophobia, fear of darkness. I am very fearful of it. When I am alone, as I enter a new room, I always check left, right, up, down, look behind the door, under the couch… Make sure that there’s nothing there. In my Lucid Dreams, I hope to face a few demons that haunt my thoughts from time to time, and overcome them, and, hopefully, my Nyctophobia.
Finally, my fantasy dreams for Lucid Dreaming. First of all, flying, which would be beyond amazing to pull off. I’d also like to take the form of my avitar, Cutter, a character I made up. In addition to that, I’d like to use Lucid Dreams for art… Designing characters for my projects. Sometimes, I can see a blurry image of a character I’m trying to design in my head, but it’s too blurry to design, I can only see a faint outline at best. I’d also love to become the main character of a story, like in Naruto, Megaman ZX, or pretty much anything. That would be so much fun, being a part of a universe that I know by heart, fighting evil, and pulling off amazing stunts… What more could you ask for?
If you were persistent enough to read my whole introduction, thank you very much. I know a little about Lucid Dreaming, and I’m sure that using this forum will help me become even better at it.
