hello, my name is Daphna, I live near Long Beach in California, and I had my first lucid dream couple nights ago.

I was inside my dream and I got a feeling that something was wrong. For some reason I asked myself if I was dreaming and I realized I was! But the next thing I remember is being part of the dream forgetting I was dreaming.

The day after I was talking about it in class and my teacher told me it was called lucid dreaming. I googled it and here I am.

I was wondering what might have brought me to lucid dream. I read about some ways to get them but is there any other way to trigger it like that again?

hello daphna, and welcome to dv. sounds like what brought you to lucid dream was pure chance, maybe your just a natural.

yes. there are multiple ways to trigger lucid dreaming. what you experienced was a dild or dream-induced lucid dream. witht his technique you basically figure out your dreaming by either doing a reality check or questioning the world around you and seeing something unusual for real life.

sounds to me like your off to a good start feel free to pm me with any other questions you may have. hope you like it here at dream views.

also, if you haven't already i would strongly suggest that you read the tutorial page and start a dream journal!

thanks for the link to the tutorial page. I didn't even know there was one.

I've just been grounded which gives me plenty of time to focus on sleep and dreaming.

From what I've read and stuff I think I'm gonna pick up my old dream diary again.

Welcome to the forum! I see you're Piseces, me too! Great sign, isn't it?

The best pieces of advice I can offer you are : keep a dream journal, think/read a lot about LD-ing during the day (or do reality checks) and remain optimistic!

That's good that your teacher is aware of LDing and pointed you in the right direction. It's amazing how many people have never heard of it. I think most everyone has had a lucid at some point in their lives, but either didn't know there was a name for it, or just didn't remember having it once they woke up.

Anyway, spend some time getting yourself familiarized with the different areas of the forum. There is so much information available to you here. And the community is very friendly and open-minded, so please feel free to post any questions or experiences you may have.

Welcome aboard Good luck and have fun!

Yeah, I started to talk to my friends about lucid dreaming and nobody seemed to know that name but almost everyone had some kind of an experience like that.
