Hi, I'm new to LDing and have never had one before (that i can remember, anyhow) and decided to use the WILD technique. I got close, I think. I got so that I got, sort of a random pressure. The only thing was that everytime it happened i would become more conscience of my breathing and basically get myself awake again. It happened several times, but it was a really hard pressure... So, anyway, I was wonderin' if I was close and if there's anything I can do to get through with the WILD technique.

      Thanks,
      -Metroid48 :yumdumdoodledum:

I think you were close, but you say that you are fairly new to the WILDing technique. Most people do not successfully WILD on their first time, but keep at it. It may not take a lot of time for you, but still...It may, but I don't see you having that hard of a time with it, if you are dedicated. So, just read up on the other tutorials and such and keep the good work up. Welcome to the forum, Metroid. Have a nice time here. If you need anything, just message me, and I will be happy to help!

Thanks, happy to be on the forum!

Anyway, I was just not sure since the pressure randomly occured on my chest, which made me want to breath faster, which woke me up. Anyway, thanks!

EDIT: Also, there was one other question I had. I read on one of the WILD topics that you have to go to sleep, wake up in 5-6 hours, then go back to sleep this time trying to WILD. However, with a nap you can just try to WILD right away. Do you actually need to sleep for 5-6 hours, wake up, and then try to successfuly WILD in a night-time sleep? Or can you just try right when you originally go to sleep?

I get the exact same feeling, but trying it more and more is helping me cope with it. Further along (for me atleast) it gets even more intense, so repetition takes away the innitial shock. It seems like I make progress each time I try, maybe it will be the same for you. Also, have you begun to lose control of your body at this point?

Keep me posted, I'm in the exact same boat you're in.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if anybody else got a similar feeling.

Anyway, I'm going to try a few MILDs so that I don't have a successful WILD and just blow it with excitement!

      Anyway, thanks,
      -Metroid48

Aztek: I hadn't lost control just yet, but I think I was on the verge. The feeling's just a shock at first.

hi umm its harder to WILD at night because your body gose thought the whole sleep cycle before it gets to REM (were youl be in a dream) but if you wake up at like 4am its already been thought the cycle a few times and youll go straght back to REM... your also more asleep so its good. I get to the point i feel tinkly and i feel like im falling... but that wakes me up too much but as Aztek said the more you do it the more boring itl get and you wont get to woken up about it.

      Thanks.

Once I have a few LDs, and don't wake up immediately (eg. have some control), I'm' going to try to WILD. Even if it's the beginning of sleep. Just to get used to it.

Anyway, one quick question. Why with naps can you just try right away? Wouldn't the nap never reach REM?

      Thanks!

If you're up for it, I would suggest trying to WILD in the middle of the night after some sleep.

In my experiences, I can never get myself to find the happy medium between sleep and full conciousness, I even get into SP, but I can't transition into the dream. I'm guessing that if this stage is reached when REM will come sooner, (i.e. the middle of the night) transition should be loads easier.

You have a good stratagy though, get yourself used to the sensations. Good luck!

      Hi Metroid, welcome to DV!

You can try WILDing with an afternoon nap, if you try it between two and four pm. Our body's natural rythm makes us sleepy after lunch, i think it goes back to our ancestors who used to hunt for food (or something like that)

I've had it a couple of times when i've gone for a nap i've had a lucid dream. Not usually a WILD, just a regular dream that was lucid.

One point i will make though, don't do it unless you are actually sleepy, or it won't work. At least, it won't for me!

feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Oh, yeah. I'm not usually inclined to have naps for some reason, but the one time I did I a) didn't have a lucid (wait... I haven't had any lucids yet ) and b) made my night-time sleep harder !

EDIT: Oh yah, one question. Is it possible to just do a WILD right at the beginning of your 8-hour night sleep and still get decent lucid dream time?

I think it's almost impossible to do this. I think someone may have mentioned it further up, but in order to do a WILD effectively you need to be close to a REM cycle. When you first lay down in your bed to go to sleep, that's exactly what you do. In order to have a sucessful WILD, you need to have gone through one full sleep cycle, with the periods of REM. By waking up five or six hours into sleep, you'll have gone through this period, and be closer to the next one.
