Does anyone know why dreams or certain factors in dreams repeat?

Lately every night I have at least one dream that I've had a few times in the past. I think its a bit odd...but
      why do dreams just re-surface?

Given the almost complete randomness of many dreams, its not unnatural to have dreams repeat themselves, (Either exactly or with few variations).

The actual question as to why? Well honestly I wouldnt know. I dont even know for sure why we dream. (Theres still speculation as to why we even have to sleep). Many people think dreaming is our subconcious sort of "figureing out" problems in our lives while others think more literally about dreams. For instance if you dream about a rose, youre in love...taht type of stuff. There really is no set rule to dreams that gives answers as to why we have them. (At least in my experiences).

Maybe you can use this dream repetition to trigger a Lucid? Try using it to your advantage. Theres honestly nothing abnormal about having a certain dream more than once.

      Hi, welcome to DV!

Hmm...well, i'm not sure why dreams repeat, but there is an interpretational theory, that says if a dream is repeating, then it's probably trying to tell you something about your waking life. I'm not sure how true that is, because everyone's dreams are individual, although we all dream about similar things, but with our own individual settings and characters.

as MisterPlow stated, it really can be used to your advantage, as a recurring dream or set of events within in a dream can be a great time to perform a reality check.

And why do the certain factors in the waking life repeat? They are too common or too important so not to be put into surface again and again. A normal daily occurence.
      I'm tired being sorry.
