Well, I'm new around here, as you can probably guess. A friend of mine from the ld4all.com forums told me about this site, looks pretty cool. I've been interested in the whole lucid dreaming idea for a couple of years, made a few attempts at learning it...wasn't very motivated, though. I plan to start trying it seriously, I really want to LD.

I do have a bit of a problem, though. I know the first crucial step is definitely improving dream recall, which I'm having some trouble with. Thing is, I can remember 3-4 dreams per night... *pieces* of dreams, that is. And I mean very *brief*, possibly only a few seconds to a minute....definitely not good enough for LDing, and not even close to remembering a full-blown dream scenario. I had a dream journal in the past (with little material to write in it) that didn't help much, but I wasn't exactly consistent when it came to writing in it...so I was wondering, you guys have any tips to help with recall? There's most likely something I'm missing.

Anyway, that's pretty much it for now. I hope I'll get to know all of you better in the future.

Hello and welcome to Dream Views. Keeping a journal and recording what you remember from your dreams, no matter how small the detail, can assist in recall. There is much more info on that through the forums, though.

What always helps me is using the MILD method to help recall. When you are lying in bed trying to go to sleep, repeat in your head "I will awaken after I have a dream, and I will remember the dream." This usually results in waking up after 4-6 hours (usually when your first good long REM cycle happens) with a dream fresh in my mind. And by all means, write whatever you can remember in your journal right away.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress!

Heh, thanks for the tips, guys.

I think it's improving....last night I remembered 3 dreams. I only remembered fragments, but they seemed a lot more vivid than usual...that's good, I guess.
I started a dream journal, hopefully I'll see what kind of effect it has within the next few days.
