Anyways, I was just wondering, how long did it take before you peeps got your first LD's?
I'm just kind of looking for some easy and realiable methods for beginning my LD adventures. I've tried waking up and doing MILD or FILDS but I always seem to "forget" immediately because I'm so tired. I guess that's my main problem...
I think I may have had 1 LD before... it was great, but I'm not exactly sure if it was a real LD or not.
Thanks very much! This is a great forum.

hey, welcome to DV!
the length of time from beginning to learn about LDing to actually have one varies greatly from person to person.
As someone said, they had their first one after a week. I think it took me about a month to get the hang of it.
And i don't have them that regular.
The most important thing is to get a good foundation for lucid dreaming, this involves improved recall by keeping a dream journal.
I take it you are keeping a dream journal? If not, i strongly recommend you start one.
This site has an excellent feature for it.
You should aim to be recalling two or three dreams per night. This can vary depending on the quality of sleep you get, whether you get a routine or not. if you work shifts, like i do, that can be a pain in the butt!
Also, when you first try out a new technique, it can take a couple of weeks to get 'established' if you like. Same thing with reality checks. Your brain is having to 'remember' to do something.
You have to train your brain to question things that it would normally just accept. Like seeing a pink car for example. You have to train yourself at various points in the day to ask yourself if you're dreaming, and really believe in the possibility that you could indeed be in a dream, unless you can find evidence to prove otherwise.
I think there's some good stuff in the tutorials section on reality checks, and i'm sure the other members here would be happy to share their methods with you too.
Oh, and as for if you were lucid or not. If at any point in the dream you realised that what you were seeing wasn't reality, and you thought 'this is a dream' then congratulations. you had a lucid dream!!!
I think that's about it. sorry it was so longwinded. If you need any more help, don't hesitate to Pm one of us, we're all a helpful bunch here.
