      Hello everyone

My name is Gary , 16.

I have been on and off lucid dreaming for over a year now, I have never tried it, but from reading your site I started right away. I have been reading the forums for about a week now but only signed up a few days ago. I have a few questions ,

      1) Can you feel and taste stuff in lucid dreams , like can you feel pain or taste food.

      2) If you know your dreaming , can you wake up?

      3) I can recall about 1 dream a night with some nights with no recall , last night I remembered lots of small bits of the dream(s) and wasnt sure if it was 1,2 or 3 dreams , is it easy to tell when you get better recall or was it just one dream?

      4) How long does it take to get good recall and start on trying to induce a lucid dream?

      Thanks for reading!!! (first post)

      Heya, welcome to the board!
      Nice first post too...

      1. Yes, you can feel and taste stuff in lucid dreams, although that's something i've never experimented with in a lucid dream, food...hmm. *adds that to the list*

      2. Usually, when you first start learning about lucidity, the excitement of your first few lucids causes you to wake up. It's like 'wow! i'm dreaming!' and then you wake up...that's annoying...but it passes.

It's easier to differentiate between dreams when your recall improves.
The best way to improve recall is to keep a dream journal. Every morning when you wake up, write down whatever you can remember.
It'll be sketchy and hazy at first, but with practise, you'll soon find yourself writing down whole dreams, from beginning to end.
As to getting good recall, you want to be aiming for two or three dreams recalled per night before beginning an induction technique.

      Check out This forum

for hints and tips on recall...i'm sure you'll find some good answers in there!

In the meantime, enjoy your time on the board, good luck with your recall. And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM one of us, we're a friendly helpful bunch....

      Hi,
Irishcream explaned it well, so I'm just going to say hi
About the food: I ate sushi with a japanese cook once douring a fight in a restaurant, it tasted quite good for something that my mind created.
      See you around the forums!

For the very quick and warm welcome, I have started a dream journal. It mostly contains bits of dreams. Being able to recall dream from start to finish sounds good! One more thing I would like to add , looking at my dreams , everything seems mixed up , for example a friend of mine that lives round the corner from my house now lives over the road from me . Would this count as a dream sign maybe?

Nice , did it taste like real sushi?

All my dreams are messed up. Once I'm in school, then I'm an agent of the future with a laser gun. If you can teach yourself to Reality check whenever something is strange then it could be helpfull.
It tasted like some smoked salmon (spelling?). It wasn't really a lucid dream, but I'm sure you can taste in a LD.

I've hurt myself in a lucid dream before (trying to fly) it felt different then real pain but I really felt it. The only thing close to eating I've done is had some water to drink and it tasted really amazing but I have no idea how to describe it.
Also I've never had a problem waking my self up if I wanted to by just trying.

Nice, once you get recall up some non lucid dreams can be intresting as well from what I have seen in some ppl's dream journals. I havent really done any RC's expect for the odd one here and there, I might start doing them much more soon.

Ok , Thanks, can think of even more things to do in a lucid dream now

Also last night I pretty much recalled a full dream from start to end, with a few bits were I could not recall or had to put more effort in to remembering that part. Also I set my alarm but when I woke up (I knew I could remember a dream or even 2) I just fell back asleep , gatta work on not falling stright back to sleep.
