      Hey everyone,

I thought I would introduce myself. I've been lucid dreaming since...well...since as long as I can remember. I'm actually suprised to find by reading some of the posts on this forum that some rarely or never experience it. One poster said that his friend believed they didn't even exist!

Anyway, two summers ago I really wanted to try to get into it and I began a dream journal. At one point I was remembering 4-5 dreams per night and achieving lucidity at least once a week. These lucid dreams were different than any I had had before: much more vivid with tactile experiences. Unfortunately, after only a month or so I started to become very busy with school and stopped writing in my dream journal altogether.

Fast forward to now: I'm studying abroad in Madrid, Spain and have found myself with a lot of free time on my hands. My dream recall came back to me within a few nights of writing in the journal again, but to my suprise the quality of my dreams have changed greatly. Instead of the epic fantasy worlds that I experienced last year, my dreams have become so mundane and boring. For instance, one dream I drove for what felt like hours down a country road, with nothing in the scenery or in the storyline denoting that this might be a complete fantasy world.

And therein lies a problem: Naturally I'm adept at DILD's due to the fact that, in many cases, something odd or out of place instantly triggers my awareness. I'm sorry to say that in more than 3 weeks I've only had one lucid, and that dream was very short and not very vivid. The only real difference is that I don't really mediate anymore, do you think that might have something to do with that?

Finally, I've been trying desperately with no success to WILD, before I go to bed, setting my alarm clock, or taking a nap (my host family thinks I'm crazy with how much I sleep). Usually I concentrate very hard but lose it and drift unwittingly into sleep. I feel like I came really close the other day though, which I guess is good news.

Well that's it. Nice to meet all of you and I hope to participate actively.

      Jason

HEY! jaymar320! My name is Jason too!
Anyway. Good to have you aboard the Forum.

I have incurred change and that dramatically decreased my lucid dreaming. Once my surrounding stabilized again, although it took a few weeks, my lucid outlook returned.
And meditation may very well play a role.

      Keep us updated.

Wow. It's great to have you. You have a great deal of experience, which is really awesome. I am sure that you can find most things you need while you are here, and that you can help others with your extensive knowledge on the topic.
      Shine on, you crazy diamond!

Hey. Welcome to dreamviews. I believe that poster you are talking about is probably me. I made a thread like that. Its not that my friend doesn't believe its possible, he just doesn't believe it is possible for someone to train themselves to have them more frequently. His argument is that he doesn't have habits in his dreams, so why would a reality check be any different.

Anyway, my dreams are a lot like you describe yours: mundane. I've been trying desperately to make them more surreal without any luck. That is one of my goals is to use my dreams for inspiration in art or anything, but I can't get great inspiration by having a dream about going to school. On occasion I'll have a dream that is in an unfamiliar place, but they still aren't anything out of the ordinary.

I've had tried WILD a few times as well, but I haven't had much success with that either. My problem is I always actually fall asleep because I'm so tired. I only managed to get to the very beginning stages of HI one time and thats my record.

I hope you enjoy it here and DV and I hope you figure out a way to figure your problem out.

      Good luck!

maybe practice your WILD before you go to bed, not after you wake up in 6 hours of whatever?

Welcome to the site! I agree my dreams arn't extremely boring, but some of them are so incredibly normal that nothing really seems out of place. I just recently had a dream where I babysat, haha. and when i'm dreaming and see something that seems odd I just go, hmm? and let it slide, or I just don't pay attention to it haha.

Maybe there is a way to focus on say, dragon art or something below bed? or reading about the characteristics of dragons ya know?

      Anyway ! Welcome!

      Hi!
My dreams are like you described you had before. Full of fantasy and colours and strange things, basically there is always something happening. But I almost never get lucid . But enough about my dreams, welcome to DV .

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. The WILD I almost had on Saturday was really a testament of what is to come if I keep at it. Basically, for a split second I was given a view standing level to a superhighway looking at the oncoming lane. It was completely dark and there were probably about a dozen cars facing my direction. The crazy thing was their headlights... So amazingly bright and vivid. And they were all those kind of purple-ish xenon headlights that you find on new luxury cars. The vision was so shocking that I immediately snapped back into conciousness.

      thanks again guys

      Jason
