      Hello all,

      I'm "Revelation" and I'm 15.
I'm here cause I really want to learn to lucid dream. I've been reading from this site,
and I've searched the net for info on it. But, the only catch is, I don't want to be ridiculed for
trying to lucid dream, so I don't keep a dream journal, and I don't do reality checks in real life...
My brother, sister, and dad say they do it every couple nights, but they have been able to do it since childhood I guess... I just don't care for them to make fun of me for trying to find a way to make myself do it since I'm not like them... ya know?

I've been trying to WILD and I haven't had any successes yet. I've gotten close I think..
I've entered REM consciously, like 3 times...but eventually I just... stop there, nothing more happens really. Once, I noticed I was in a dream, and said "hey, I'm dreaming" I felt a wuick jolt and then...I thought I was awake... After thinking about it, I remember trying to keep my eyes shut cause I thought there was some type of color when I opened them a bit... sigh, I guess I may have been ld'ing and decided to go to normal sleep unaware... lol.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance to anyone who responds lol.

Welcome to the forum, Revelation You've definitely come to the right place to learn how to LD.

I'm not sure why you can't keep a dream journal, though - you don't have to advertise that fact if you don't want. Keep it under your bed or something if you're worried about someone finding it. Your dream journal is an important tool to becoming more aware of your dreams, increasing recall, and recognizing patterns to your dreaming. It's strongly advisable to keep one if at all possible.

Same thing with reality checks - you don't have to do something obvious like holding your nose and trying to breathe. You can do more subtle tests like trying to put your finger through your palm, or comparing a wall clock to your wristwatch (my personal fav) - check out some other ideas here - RCing is very useful in attaining lucidity and maintaining it, though some people rely on RCs more than others.

Another thing you may want to try is reading LDing-related material before bed. I would recommended picking up Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge - this book is a must-read for anyone interested in LDing, therefore it's commonly refered to on LDing forums as EWOLD. Reading dream-related stuff before bed will get you into the "dreaming frame of mind" so to speak.

Good inductions techniques for beginners include MILD,WBTB, and DILD. You may find WILDing hard at the beginner stage - and some people have no luck with it at all (including myself - I never WILDed in my life), but some have great success with it.

Moral of the story - everyone's different so do what works for you. Try different things and experiment - and you can do it in a discreet way so you won't feel embarrassed. (though on a side note, I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of, and shouldn't feel like you have to hide it from your family - it's not like your joining a cult! Lucid dreaming is completely natural and normal.) /end my 2 cents.

Please feel free to post any questions or experiences you may have. Good luck and have fun!

      Hi and welcome!
Burns explaned it very well and I acknowledge her post . Many people start having regular lucid dreams in time after they begin with different inductions. Like Burns said start with techniques and you'll see what works best for you. Everybody say that a dream journal is a must have so I guess you must have it, although I have to admit I (sadly) rarely write in it. I'm sure you'll see results soon .

I found that when I started a dream journal, the 1st night I had 4 dreams, the second 3, and the third night 4 again, and every night since then 2-4 dreams per night. I havent been recording them though coz I keep telling myself Ill write them down in the morning and then come morning time I forget the dreams.
      IDIOT! lol

Thanks for all your support everyone. I'll see what I can do about the journal and reality checks... I like the idea of the wall clock and wrist watch, much easier than anything else I've read lol. Well, I'll keep reading up on stuff, and maybe I'll print some stuff out to read too. Thanks again.

That's a great idea - when I first joined, I copied all the tutorials into Word documents and printed them all off so I could read them in bed. It made a huge difference reading that stuff just before falling asleep - it's like I was all primed and ready to LD!
