Hello; heres a short log of me and my dreaming experiences: to recall i think i have been having lucid dreams for my entire dreaming life... As far as i can remember i have almost always been able to tell i was dreaming, maybe not as much as thinking "hey i'm dreaming wtf k" but, more along the lines of noticing things that didn't seem quite right, things like sometimes me loosing eye site, or the ability to change location/fly/me crying?/meeting new people that resemble people i know, and me calling them by the persons name "dream characters" (as i have seen everyone refer them to as) that resemble my real friends, but i feel something different when i notice them...

Anyways, for the past 3 years i have been suffering from insomnia, sometimes it keeps me up for 3 days at a time, others i can force myself to sleep after... -24hours, if i'm lucky. This has really been quite annoying as i have found out what LDing is, and i would like to experience lucid dreaming more vividly...

One thing i have noticed when i'm dreaming, is sometimes i completely can not see anything at all...it's very odd.... othertimes i've felt different sensations, and realizations; most of these have just been dreams but i have become lucid in some, but these dreams normally result in me being by myself, trying to find people to talk to... or something to do, as i'm normally in strange or unfamiliar isolated places, usually situated around a cliff with water below, normally i can fly (in dreams and LDs) i think by then i normally become lucid, as i can " change scenery" while flying; it feels like some kind of vortex normally darkness that i appear into, this is where sometimes again i " loose sight" as i'm going to refer to it as... in a decent majority of dreams, i found changing scenery can be bad, as it normally starts to turn into a nightmare, but again, i know it's still a dream... i normally have to "fight" large creatures, or huge people, none can ever hurt me, and i seem to kill thousands lol....but yea..

i've also noticed i have reoccurring dreams; i used to have lots when i was young, i havn't had any for awhile. I remember a few years ago i hadn't had a dream in ages that i could remember, then i had a dream which i remembered was a reoccuring one from several years before...

I've been having trouble recently trying to gain lucidity; like, i can understand i'm dreaming fully, and when i try to do things... Normally i get the opposite effect (i can't do it at all) sometimes it could be basic things, like lift an arm, or make things appear in a time of need, also in a dream where i have been flying, i've noticed sometimes i can't anymore... this normally becomes fusterating... Or i can recognise what i am doing as a dream, but i don't take further effects i just carry on with the dream. Can i get some help here?

But even with all these obstacles; i have found one great thing i am able to do. That is after i have been woken up, i can go back to dreaming the same dream, (again i seem to loose sight a lot here though) but if it's successful it normally carrys on as if nothing has happened at all. I can be awake for 1/2 an hour sometimes and still go back to dreaming the same dream.

anyways really long intro sorry to bore you, i'll start posting dreams as i remember them and as often as i can

Hey Scribe, welcome to the forum!

I've never been an insomniac (on the contrary, I usually have the opposite problem and I'm tired a lot), so i can't really give you any good advice there - but I think there are some insomnia thread in the Sleep Disorder forum - or you can always do a search for insomnia and see what you come up with.

With the dream control, maybe it's just that you need to stabilize the dream before doing anything else. I like to lean against a wall and take a few breaths to calm myself down before proceeding. And I've also had some problems with controlling things or making things change or appear, so I've started using a magic wand. For some reason, it's more believable to me that the wand is doing the controlling since it is separate from myself, so I'm able to change things easier. Just a thought.

And like you, I often wake up from dreams, especially in the late morning if I'm able to sleep in, and then fall back to sleep and continue the dream. I think a lot of other people have this happen as well. This is also a good time for a quick WBTB as well.

Anyhoo, again, welcome to the forum - good luck and have fun!

Thanks, and hey, i tried the "am i dreaming" question when i was awake, i found that night asking myself "am i dreaming...? ......... Yes..." i was able to awnser it! This was a bit of a breakthrough as it happened like 3 days ago; i was also able to obtain lucidity through that.. but now i can't remember the dream since my pc is broken and i wasn't able to record it, infact since i've made that post i was able to obtain 2 or 3 lucid dreams.

I'm going to try that question a few more times with the help of something like a 'wand' i also remember afew years ago doing something of the same manner, it helped me 'believe' if you will that i was dreaming, and there was no physical barriers...

anyways thanks, i'm going to start posting my dream log when i get my desktop pc back..
