Hello - my name's Barry. I'm very interesting in learning how to lucid dream, but it will have to be in baby steps. I have had virtually zero dream recall for the last couple of years.

I've started taking Vitamin B6 and milk before I got to bed but so far, after 5 days, no luck yet. Does anyone know how long before any effects might begin?

I generally get 6-7 hours sleep a night (less lately).

I hope I can find some good words here to help me with my goal. This is something that's very important to me, and I'm looking forward to speaking with any of you.

      Welcome to the forum!

I reccomend working on your dream recall.
:Set your alarm clock for 4 and a half hours after you go to sleep...thenin 90 minute intervals. When you wake up, turn off your alarm clock, and LAY THERE...DON'T move...and try to remember ANYTHING, even if it is feelings. Do this for several weeks until you can remember at least 2 dreams a night. You have dreams...you just can't remember them.

But I keep reading that everyone dreams, several dreams a night. I'm assuming they're there, and I just need to figure out ways to keep the memory of them fresh during the night and carry over till morning. Now, when I wake up there's very very rarely a feel that I've even had a dream....

Well, I might start remembering dreams but I may cause my wife to leave me if I start waking her up in the middle of the night over and over.....

Hehe, do what I do. Drink a lot of water before bed.

Works as well as an alarm clock and keeps my wife happy. You can also keep your dream journal in the bathroom where you can turn on the light to write without disturbing her.

Oh, and it is usually at the end of a REM cycle anyway when you wake up enough to know you need to relieve yourself.

      Hey Barry,
Welcome.... As Seeker says, the water works good. I'm pretty new at this too but one thing I've found is that the moment you get out of bed, your chances for recall are very poor. When I wake up, I spend about 30 seconds to a minute remembering dreams from the night and immediatly write them down. The second I get out of bed I'm thinking about what I have to do that day, and I think most people are the same. And one more thing that helps alot...... Patience..... Good Luck

I'm finding from reading other topics around the site, that length of sleeptime is really the clear indicator. There was something in a FAQ about not getting into REM sleep until after 5 hours of sleep?

      Hey welcome to Dream Views!!!

I have found that my dream recall has seriously dropped because I am only getting 4-6 hours of sleep every night. I know when I sleep more I am able to recall my dreams more! Usually I recall dreams best when I wake up in the middle of the night or wake up (30 min method) and go back to sleep... but with only 4-6 hours of sleep every night that does not leave much time for this! I would recommend getting more sleep if you can. Hehe looks as if i need to take my own advice... but there ya go that's my 2 cents!
