My name is Daniel, I first learnt about lucid dreaming when I watched a movie called Waking Life, indeed i'm sure many of you have seen this movie or heard of it. Anyway, I then read up about it on the internet a bit and let it go, for several years in fact. Then, about a week ago I was in a book store doing some Christmas shopping and I fell apon "Lucid Dreams, A Concise Guide....". Since then I have been working on my dream recall, only to realize that I didn't recall to well, so far I've only remembered about 4 dreams in the last week and only partially at that, I do have a DJ, and I'm doing the reality checks and reminding myself constantly as i'm drifting to sleep that "I will wake up and remember my dreams".

However now that I'm working on what I'm guessing is the first step; Dream recall, i have a few questions, and I appoligize if this has been covered before in another topic.

      1. Are there any other techniques other than Reality Checks and reminding yourself to remember dreams that people have also mentionned helps dream recall?

      2. As a newbie without the necessary dream recall, should I be worried about learning to become lucid along with my dream recall exercises, or should i take it one step at a time?

And on a last note, this is by far, in general, the most friendly and organized forum I've seen. Thanks

      Hiya, welcome to the forum!

Hmm...other techniques for remembering dreams...welll, i can't really help with that one, i usually just remember automatically. Some days are better than others.

In answer to your second question, it really is better to take it one step at a time...get your recall up...when you start seeing dreamsigns, you'll be able to do reality checks.
For more information, visit the Dreamsigns and recall section.

      And thanks for the compliment!

It works easier if you dont rush into things, so take it a step at a time. Keep doing your RCs, and when you are in a dream ask yourself "am i dreaming?" and do n RC in ur dream, such as pushing your finger through ur palm or breathing w/ your nose pinched shut through ur nose. if either one works (ur finger goes through ur hand or you can breath through ur nose w/ it pinched shut) then you are dreaming! last night though, for instance, i just randomly asked if i was dreaming and i started jumping around b/c yes! i was dreaming! i didnt do a RC though, i should have.
And yes we all rock here. THough, most everyone here is kind, we are also insane. So watch out! *sneaks off like a ninja, dissapearing in a poof of red and white striped smoke*

Thanks, I will be documenting my progress anytime I have some, is there an index within this forum specifically for that?

I look forward to learning more from you all and hope to share with the newbies if the future.
