Hello, and welcome! Well, it could be both. I am not an experienced WILDer at all, as DILD is my thing, and am not very knowledgeable about WILD, but as with many techniques it is bound to fail if you are too tired and haven't been getting enough sleep. I think it will help you technique-wise to concentrate a little harder on what is happening to you, as I believe taht when you concentarte to lightly on what you're doing in WILD, you will just drift off and wake up normally. That being said, don't concentrate on your sensations too hard, or you'll never fall asleep.
EDIT: Just a thought. WILDing takes a lot of practice, so I think it would be beneficial to you to try other techniques like self-hypnosis (HILD in the tutorials section, you could even use it to get yourself to WILD better), or DILD (I have a good super-RC tutorial, see my siggy). This way you have a chance to LD in other ways too, and aren't relying just on WILD, which can be challenging.
