I started having LDs and wonder what are good things to try out as a beginner, especially when your dream control skills are pretty weak yet. Any good stuff that maybe even helps building the control skills?

My first LD occured when I was about 8 (or so..). I remember, with utter exitment, thinking "I'M DREAMING!!!1". I remember waking up, poundering this strange phenomenon; at the time, I knew not that Lucid Dreaming was.

In any event, in the dream I just kinda ran around, thinking "WOW!" I really wish I did more, heh. I only had control over myself -- not my environment.

I'm more or less in the same stage as you. Now that I have a few LDs a week I'm practicing stabilization to make them last longer: avoiding excitement, rubbing hands, ect. I also try to perform simple experiments for dream control, for example materialize small objects in my pockets by saying: 'when I search in my pocket I will find (whatever)" and then looking for it. All I got until now were my sunglasses, though I´ve had no success summoning people or teleporting to other places yet.

      In my first real LD
i tried the spinning method, and had no success,
      so i spun again
and BAM i was in my chosen location
a lot of ppl say it doesnt work for them, but it certainly did for me
      so try it =D
