So i read about this site about a week ago because i was interested in learning about lucid dreaming, and i came here and looked at some of the guides here and they were awesome! I reckon that this is probably the best lucid dreaming site made (Ld4all is a close second) and its great to be a member of it. One of the things that really won me over is the fact you actually have a "senseless banter" forum.(Believe me, compared to some of the other forums i have been to, that forum is pretty civilized)

Anyway, what is lucid dreaming like? I know that this question gets asked many times but i really want to know. I don't think i have had a lucid dream yet(or at least one i remembered, my dream recall is bad) but from what I've read off this site, it sounds great!

So once again hi to everyone and I hope that i will experience lucid dreaming some time soon.

      Welcome to Dreamviews.

For me, lucid dreaming is just like real life- well, just as realistic at least. All 5 senses are there, and it's really amazing.

Hey, cheesemuffin Welcome to DV. Glad you decided to register here.

It's cool you've already read through the tutorials - that's a great start. Have you started a dream journal yet?

LDs for me are just very clear, and sometimes I have good control and sometimes not. It just depends on the day - and the person.

Enjoy your stay and see you around (maybe in Senseless Banter, lol)

Well i started a dream journal yesterday but in that night all I had was nightmares and I don't record nightmares no matter what.

And trust me, compared to a "certain" forum I've been on, Senseless Banter should be called the Queens Palace!

Oh and one thing i need to know, although I've read the tutorials on ways of having a lucid dream (WILD, MILD etc) is there one that doesn't require you to go to sleep and then get up and go to sleep again? For me thats really annoying and hopefully there is one where you can just go to sleep and have your lucid dream . I think WILD is probably my best bet but i may be wrong.

Welcome to DV cheesemuffin. One way to become lucid is by using the technique DILD (dream induced lucid dream). Basically, the idea is to perform reality checks throughout the day and so that you perform them during your dream too. Reality checks are when you stop and ask yourself if you are dreaming and find some way to prove it or disprove it. If you do enough during the day, you will eventually find yourself doing them in a dream. THEN its (usually) instant lucidity!

It is important that you start a dream journal (DJ) however. Record every dream, even your nightmares. This is important because you have to start to recognize your dreamsigns. Dreamsigns are elements of your dream that occur often and should clue you in on the fact that you are dreaming. Once you learn what dreamsigns are most common for you, you can start looking for them in your dreams. You should perform a Reality Check when you see a dreamsign.

Good luck man. It may be hard to get your first LD, but don't give up. It is well worth it!

Yeah I've tried doing reality checks through the day, but i keep forgetting and i don't have a digital watch or something that can be set to beep every hour.

I still stand by the fact that I'm not going to record nightmares.(I don't want to be reminded of them, trust me) I understand dreamsigns, but I am not 100% sure on them. Could you give me an example of a dreamsign?

      Anyway, thanks for the help!

      heya, welcome to DV!

well, you have a great example of a dreamsign right there. Recurring nightmares. You could tell yourself that next time you have a nightmare you'll realise you're dreaming and defeat whatever it is that's scaring you, or you could tell yourself to imagine a big 'exit' sign, walk through a door and be somewhere else.

as to reality checks, i usually ask myself at random points in the day when i see something odd...
Like one time i saw an advert in a shop window, but it was UPSIDE DOWN.

try to go back and make them last.'

      Cool

      Hi Cheese Muffin,

Welcome to Dream Views. I like your name - cheese muffin's are nice. But I am on a diet so....

Well when I have an LD I am just as concious in it as I would be when I am awake. Some times
      I have control and sometimes not - or a 50 / 50 split.

Dream Journal is very important because if you don't have good recall you might have an LD
and then forget you had it when you wake up. Reality checks very important. I use a counting
the fingers on my hand reality check - it has been very effective indeed. Maybe you can
remember to do that whenever you walk through a door way or whenever you sit down. If you
do it regularly that is very good. I often ask 'Am I Dreaming?' during the day and do my hand
RC. It is important to get your brain thinking about if it is dreaming or not.

It can be hard to get consistent LD's I have only had 7 in the last year. But I think it is all about time
and effort and dedication that you put into it like anything else - practice makes perfect.

Good Luck on getting your first LD - let us know what you journal name is then we can read about your first LD - It is really amazing to get one - you just realise Whoa! I am Dreaming - it's amazing.

As you can be fully concious in a dream it makes you wonder what everyday reality is all about.

      Have Fun!

      Namaste
