      Hey,

Stumbled upon this forum through google and it seems like there's alot of activity here! I have been dabbling around with lucid dreaming before, had some lucid dreams and generally have no trouble recalling dreams (sometimes up to 8-10 if I really try hard) but usually 4-6 dreams every night.

I have these obscure dreams where my primary dreamsigns are Context and Action (from LaBerges book). It's really quite amazing that I do not realize I am dreaming when I see cows swimming in a pool or me flying on a rope over water and stuff like that.

So I have begun doing reality checks every 20-30min (alarm on my cellphone goes off) and then observing my environment for the dreamsigns (where am I, are people acting normally, am I acting normally?).

Oh yeah, introductions include information about the poster . I am 20 year old Male from Northern parts of Sweden and this time I really want to master lucid dreaming!

I usually try to wake up after 5-6 hours of sleep and get up from bed for 30-60 min eating and reading about lucid dreaming (preferrably) then go back to sleep.

So far something that's been happening when I've come close is that I realize i'm dreaming but my dream becomes black and disappears, almost instantly. I guess it takes practice huh?

      Cheerio

      Hey there, welcome.

You're doing really, really well. A lot of people would kill to have dream recall as good as you, so count yourself lucky there!

And yes, sadly it does take practice. My only dvice for your problem really is keeping a leavel and logical head, which you seem to be doing already, so keep it up.

Good luck and feel free to look and post around the forum, we're here to help.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Seems you've got a lot covered (God I've been saying that a lot lately)!

LaBerge's book is great. Its an amazing book and a great tool to help you into the world of Lucid Dreaming. But yes, like any skill it does take practice.

Anyway, be sure to browse the board. You'll find there is a ton of information to help you. Not to mention the
Tutorials Section. And if you have any questions be sure to ask! Our community would be happy to help!

      Happy Dreaming!

      Thanks dudes

I had a brief LD again this night, I realized I was dreaming but the dream went black instantly! Is this normal, or has it happened to any of you? So frustrating

This used to happen to me quite a bit. The reason with me was that I got excited upon becoming lucid, so for a week or so I replaced my reality checks with doing them in the mindset that they had failed, so I would get to go though the process of becoming lucid in waking life over and over. That seemed to do the trick for me.

I don't quite understand. You had the mindset that they had failed but then you would get to become lucid? How does that work, if you could elaborate a bit

What I think Alex means is, he did a reality check, realized he was awake, and then imagined what he would do in a lucid dream to be better prepared and hopefully stay in the dream.

What I find helps me if everything goes black and I wake up, is to focus really hard on what I was doing last in my dream and sometimes I pop right back into it.

Oh yeah, and welcome to Dreamviews! XD

That's pretty much it, by failed I mean showing I'm dreaming, so I'd pretend say I'd read text and looking at it again it was differnt for example. Then that way I'd be in the same mindset as I would be beoming lucid in my dreams. It was a nice way to get practice.

Ah yes, that makes alot more sense. I'll try it. I guess sooner or later I will become accustomed to the feeling and slowly be able to be lucid more often and not get excited to either way if I keep at it it's going to work out just nicely.

      Thanks

How long does it usually take for the RCs to get into dreams? My goal is to be able to become lucid every night. I'm not sure how long that will take, realistically.. What should I expect?

I have good dream recall as stated above And I do reality checks 2-4 times an hour (cellphone alarm goes off) but I try to stay aware as much as I can.

My dreams are crazy. Usually i'm in a weird place doing very weird things with odd people. Like walking down a street with my brother, the exception is that I am floating on a ball a bit above the ground and I have trouble staying on the ball.

      Stuff like that!

      BTW,

My reality checks consist of the following...

      1. Check my cellphone time look away, and look back, then try to change the numbers.

      2. Hold my nose and try to breathe.

And if I remember and/or have time.

      3. Ask myself, where I am (context dreamsign) and observe my surroundings (action dreamsign).

It depends on how many you do a day. I mean 2-4 an hour is quite good and the RCs you do are some of the most effective. I would say a few weeks if you keep it up and stay positive.

      Hope this helps

I used to do them every 15 minutes but now its gone down to one or two an hour, so about once every half hour on average.

Has your amount of LDs gone down since you started doign them less frequently?
