      Unhappy

      Hi everyone,

      I'm new here, I didn't realise that there was a word for what 'lucid dreaming' is til today! I had these dreams sometimes, once a month maybe. I saw a post somewhere today entitled something like this: 'processing 1 million words in 1 minute'. Now I sometimes get something similar to this, usually JUST before I wake up from a dream (not necessarily a lucid one). I'm on the verge of being awake, and it's as if I see a really long page with lots of random words on. The words fit together, i.e. gramatically, but make no sense at all. E.g. lettuce bag on wardrobe box solidly aligned etc etc... very random example I know, but that's how it is. So when I have these word processing (in search for a better word) dreams, I read them really relaly fast. A lot faster than when I'm awake. I don't know if this is some sort of illusion brought on by warped time perception whilst asleep or what... So I'm just wondering if any of you have had this before/have it regularly?

      I do realise that it could just be me, I'm not well versed when it comes to dreams - interpretations etc... for which I ask you to forgive me! But I've just always wondered about this particular thing. I appreciate any feedback/information!

      Thanks in advance,

      Nick

      Sorry that's a new one for me.

      Maybe your not exactly reading, but, instead it's simply information that pours into your head. That might be why you can read so fast. I mean normally you can't read like that right? But, your mind would be able to process things that quickly.

      Just my thoughts. Sorry i can't help further.

      <span style="font-family:Georgia"> Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn&#39;t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won&#39;t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in all of us, in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

      That&#39;s a very good point haha, I&#39;m not ACTUALLY reading, so the &#39;words-on-book-to-eye-to-brain-via-optical-nerve&#39; delay isn&#39;t there&#33; Must just be my brain processing...stuff then. Glad that one&#39;s cleared up

      Well, you could say that you are actually reading, because it&#39;s not your eyes that read. It&#39;s your brain. Your eyes just convey optical information which your brain processes.

      I met a guy once who did a training workshop on some sort of special reading. It enabled you to digest a whole book in a few minutes. You&#39;d take all kinds of preparations (like bend the pages so you could flip through them at ease and other stuff.) and then you&#39;d gaze at all the pages with a fuzzy non-focused look, flipping through 300 pages within a few minutes.

      He said that you don&#39;t know what you read consciously, but you could easily answer written test questions (multiple choice) on the contents afterwards.

      So, point I am making. The eyes play a minor part in reading. Whatever it is you are reading in your sleep, I bet it&#39;s the same brain regions doing the work as in wake state.

      Maybe you could ask yourself some questions like:

      "What kind of information did I receive?"
      "Which parts of my life does the piece of information refer to?"
      "Does that piece of info suggest any action on my part?"

      In short, a bit like a synopsis test on what you read.

      Check this out for more information on word recognition, btw

      P.S.: are you lucid in those word processing dreams, actually?

      Thaks again, that&#39;s always really interested me, the concept of literally flicking through a book and being able to answer fundamental questions about it, despite not reading or being able to recall consciously what you read. Heh, this is a really interesting site in terms of learning cool stuff about the conscious/sub conscious states.

      I have remembered some odd words from these &#39;word-processing&#39; dreams before, but they have no bearing on real life events or conscious thoughts...as far as I know anyway. It always happens JUST before I wake up, as I said. But I wouldn&#39;t bet my life on that, sometimes I wake up in the morning and truly believing that I&#39;d shut my eyes the night before, and immediately opened again, and morning had arrived. So what I&#39;m saying is my time perception might just be a little messed up&#33;

      I&#39;m not fully lucid in these word processing dreams, but I can sort of control when I wake up...I have no control over the dream (e.g. situational - where I am or what I say/do). I get them quite regularly though, not too sure if it has and relevance to anything though, probably not.

      Typing this has just reminded me of a dream I had the other night, I won 7,000 pounds on the lottery heh

      Hi there nhighton welome aboard&#33;

      It seems to me that you are a natural seeing as how you can have lucids alot of the time. You seem to have quite good control as well, hopefully you will be able to contribute to this forum and help some of the less experienced members.

      As others hve said, welcome to the forum. We&#39;re glad to have you, certainly, and and I certainly hope you stick around. Your experience is certainly appreciated, as there are lots of folks that could learn from your experiences. Anyway, I&#39;m not sure what to say about your dream. I think it is certainly cool, but I&#39;m not a person who is able to regularly interpret other people&#39;s dreams. I am sure that although others can help, dreams are things that people must interpret themselves. What one thing means to you will never mean the same to another.

      Here&#39;s some advice from somebody who knows less about what he is doing than you do:
      See if you can figure out how to become fully lucid during these dreams, maybe you could see who/what is presenting you these nonsense words and ask them why.
