Cool

:yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum:

Last night I had my first LD!
This is the fourth time I've tried, and it worked! I knew LDing was real, I didn't doubt it or anything but geez that was cool.

I used the WILD technique in combination with the WBTB method (its the first time I've tried WBTB).

It was very weird, I'm not sure if you'd actually classify it as a WILD.... I was trying to WILD when suddenly I heard voices in my head, voices of people at home. So my brain thought "oh I must be awake talking to my family" and a slight image appeared of myself talking to my mum and my sister. Then I heard voices of my friends from school start talking as well. This seemed a bit weird. How could I be at home talking to my family when heaps of my friends were here as well? The image faded, and then I remembered about WILDing and LDing.

I rolled over and there I was. Standing in my bedroom. It was a very low lucidity dream (it was my first so that was to be expected), but I was definitely lucid. When I got up I tried focusing on my hand, like Billybob's WILD tutorial explains, but it started fading. I would have shouted "Clarity or Lucidity Now!" or something like that but I couldn't open my mouth. For some reason when I tried to open it I could feel myself opening my real mouth instead of my dream one. . It was beginning to fade really fast, and I thought I should try spinning, but it faded before I got the chance.

Even though it was a pretty crappy lucid dream, and it sounds boring and all, just the fact that it was a lucid dream was enough to make my day. :yumdumdoodledum:

Anyone got advice on how I could have kept it going or made it clearer?

Congrats! Getting it your fourth time is pretty cool. I am new to this site also but I would just like to welcome you to the board. Being new, I do not have any advice on how to keep your dream going. Keep up the good work.

Hey Andy - congrats and

One of the factors on dream clarity or vividness is your confidence level of knowing your in a dream - basically your lucidity level.

One technique which is suggested is to simply speak out "increase clarity" or "more detail now" - this will reinforce your awareness level and your mind will respond accordingly because it's something you're expecting - which translates into control.

My personal favorite, however, is to just get involved with the environment in your dreamscape - touch, smell, study all the objects and things around you (or even your own hands). The clarity will increase as your mind races to keep up with the detail and sensations that are attributed to that particular object. If you look around at a bunch of stuff, it never really has time to focus on one thing. Our mind seems to have a bit of ADD when it's in the dreamstate - at least temporarily. You need to get it focused on one thing at a time, untill your deep in awareness.
