Hi everyone. I recently found out about Lucid Dreaming while browsing the web about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. I thought it sounded amazingly cool, and since I basically hate real life, I figured this would be a really cool way to escape reality. I had my first and so far only Lucid 7 days after I started, but it only lasted a few seconds, which I have read is normal. Now, I have read that it is slightly better to sleep on your back for Lucids, although it is not required. I have never been able to sleep on my back. And I want to highten my chances to do this.

My question is, I have wrist/ankle weights that are used for exercise. These gave me the idea of sleeping with them on to force myself to sleep on my back. Is it potentially harmful to do this? Is it necessary to roll around while you sleep? Answers would be greatly appreciated.

A more permenant solution would be to buy a bed that doesn't cause you so much discomfort as to have to turn around all the time. As for staying on your back, I wouldn't recommend the weights, just relax and slowly fall asleep, your body should be parylized so you shouldn't have any problems for a while.

Hey, thanks. I don't believe it's the bed though, because I've never once been able to fall asleep on my back no matter where I'm sleeping. And the relaxing doesn't work for me, I just can't naturally fall asleep on my back. Oh well, maybe I shouldn't worry about it. Thank you for the response.

Maybe you should be more focused on improving the quality of your life.

Yes, I probably should. And Lucid Dreaming can help.

To the best of my knowledge, the only method where sleeping on your back makes that much difference is WILD. If you're using other methods, it shouldn't make much of a difference what position you're sleeping in, and even if you are using WILD you might find it easier to learn to induce it without lying on your back than to adapt to sleeping on your back.

Ok, that's a relief. Thank you for the insight.
