Oh boy am i ever excited.

This is realy the first I have ever heard of Lucid Dreaming and i never realy thought to record any of my dreams, but after last night there has been nothing else on my mind all day. My friend explained lucid dreaming to me and what you can acomplish with it and at first i was apprehensive to the idea, but after reading some other posts and pretty much memorizing the entire site from top to bottom i cant wait to have a LD.

What realy got me interested was reading about sleep paralysis. I've had this many times, more than 5 that i can vividly remember. The first was the most intense: I remember turning my tv off and covering my eyes with my pillow(which is something i havnt done since), i didnt hear anything and it made me uneasy. I dont remember removing the pillow from my eyes, and after reading the forums i might have been sleeping already but thats when it started.
It was faint at first but i heard a train, the whistle first then the actual movement and i knew it was coming my way. It was so loud and nothing I wanted to do worked. I wanted to jump from my bed and run out the house but i couldnt even move my finger to save my life. It felt just like someone was sitting on my arms and legs and a train was running over my chestin pure darkness. I honestly have never been more frightened than I was at that moment. I cant realy even describe the feeling other than absolute terror. When it stopped i sat up, sweating bullets, eyes wider than they should be and i went up stairs from my room and sat in my kitchen for a while terrified of going back to my room.
I've had more experiences with sleep paralysis after that,i sleep with the tv on most of the time jsut so i can hear something comforting, but when it gets quiet in my room it always happens. A few times i saw a face or hands but the same everytime is that sensation that i cant move. After about the 3rd experience I think i can make myself have these experiences even thoigh i dont want to. They still happen whether i like em or not.

ANYWAY....... sry to make read that but its something that always troubled me and i thought i was the only one this has happened to. Im trying to learn alot about this now, i havnt been this motivated in a while. I wrote down my first dream last night and tried the dream recall techniques last night and didnt do too bad. I didnt get to remember all of my dreams, because i know i had more than one, but i wrote down the last one I had before i woke up. I guess without realizing it i wrote a full page abuot what happened.

The weirdest thing tho is when i was writing i was still half in a dazed and i wrote it while thinking in my head that it made sense, like it realy happened and i was awake to see it happen. After i read it over tho i laughed at how absurd it realy was. I am going to keep practicing my dream recalling and i hope people reply to this post.

      THANKS FOR READING! ;P

      Hey Van,

      Welcome to the site!

I have had similar experiences. When I have had them theres usually a presence in the room with me, sometimes its lending over me- once it was sitting on my legs...and yeah that was the most terrifying. In that dream I had to overcome the paralysis because i felt like my life depended on it- I shot up and screamed "NO!" at the thing.

Since then I have had at least two paralysis dreams I could remember. Both I woke up, unable to move, and could look around my room. Both times I could see a swirling vortex at the end of the bed. In one of these dreams I could see a person standing at the center, lookin kinda like an alien. haha, this would usually make me shit my pants but for some reason they stoped being scary after the dream where I yelled no.

Search the forum for "paralysis" there was another discusion about this where several people shared their experiences.

      Welcome to Dream Views Van.

Sleep paralysis. I used to get this several times a night. Don't anymore. And I've never expereinced any of the odd sensations or halucinations that some say they get in mid SP. Sometimes I wish I could still get SP, even though it almost always scared the life out of me each time I got it.

Anyway, hope you can make your SP work for you. It's a doorway to lucid dreams if you can overcome the initial fear you feel. You've got a good thing there if you can manage it properly. Make it work!

Oh, I'm Vex btw. Here to help or answer any questions I can. Private message me if you're in need of my wonderful wisdom.

wow thanks for the reply, fast too.Ii waited all moring for admin to confirm my registration and there is so much I wanted to say. Thanks for reading, im already gaining more confidence tht one day, maybe soon maybe not, i will be able to have my own lucid dream.

Im looking through the forums on my own, I dont want to ask same questions twice but for now i had one more idea i wanted to share. I understand that my brain cant distinguish a memory from the actual object, so in that sense if i was to say "work out" in my dreams, wouldnt that trick my body into actually repairing muscles that my brain just worked out? My brain should think that i just did a long intense workout. I have to rember on my first LD to try it out and see if im fatigued in the moring. lol

Hey there... I'm a new too... I have SP all the time right after I go to sleep. Its why I showed up here looking for answers this week.

Sometimes I realize I'm dreaming, but almost always there is something/someone standing over me. It is usually followed by false awakenings, flashing lights, ears popping, or things running up and down the wall. Oddly, it is also usually really invigorating.

I think now that I had my first LD last night I might be able to control the SP a bit. Once I realized it was a dream, and that I wanted to perform my reality check, all of a sudden I was able too...

That would make your blood run cold.

But the queerest they ever did see,
Was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge

There was a thread HERE where someone asked if it was possible to build muscle through dreams.

I'm on the fence regarding this topic.

Part of me says that it's impossible because all the action is taking place in your mind, not in your muscles.

Another part of me thinks there may be something there due to a sexual lucid dream I had before. I basically lucid dreamed having sex and the next day my butt muscles and thighs were all tense and sore as if I'd actually done the deed.

      So.. who knows for sure.
Never know unless someone seriously gives it a go.

I apologize for my typing, i play alot of computer games so when i have to type fast i usually abbreviate. though = tho and so on. You'll probably never see me capatilize my I's either, and if i do, trust me i have to think about it before i do it.

after writing that "I" realize "I" didn't capatilize many I's. lol

      I've had similar experiences.
One time it must have happened to me 3 times in what must have been only 10-20 minutes...

I was up in the middle of the night trying to get some sleep... when suddenly I couldn't move. I saw weird lights and images... and heard some kinda freaky really loud noises, the sound reminded me of a lot of people yelling at once. I managed to wake myself up, but the next 2 times I tried to go to sleep it happened again. And after experiencing that I can definately see how that could turn into a lucid dream.
