Hey everybody. I have read in the past some reports about marijuana having an effect on the deepness of sleep a person is capable of experiencing, and was wondering if this is known to effect one's ability to lucidly dream. Any personal experiences would help. If this is common knowledge I apologize, I'm a newb.

      Hi! Welcome to Dreamviews!

Most drugs that relax you generally decrease your chances of having a lucid dream. This includes barbituates, marijuana, and alcohol.

I find that marijuana vastly reduces my ability to lucid dream (or to recall my dreams at all), whilst alcohol increases it (but often reduces the quality of the dream experience itself).

Psilocybin mushrooms are the only drug I've found to actually give a significant improvement to my lucid dreaming ability and quality.

Thanks for the replies guys. I used to be a daily smoker, but I have to quit to get a job. I'm thinking I'm going to make it permanent now so I can dream better. Hopefully it will help, Ill keep you all posted.

I have to stay off marijuana for at least three weeks to even have a lucid dream that lasts more than a few seconds. It takes about seven weeks to start having good ones. But you need to consider the fact that when I smoke, I do it every day, all day when I can. I don't know what effect smoking once a week would have. I haven't managed to pull off that schedule yet. Marijuana is definitely not helpful at all with lucid dreaming.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I'd stay off the ganj if Lucid Dreaming is that important to you
For me its a matter of priorities, and although defintely not reliant, I enjoy a joint most days
And when I'm at a mates house, defintely more than one
But yeah Im a regular cannabis user and find that if lucid dreaming can co-ezist in my life, thats nice
      if they cant
      Cannabis wins.
