      Wink

      Okay, I discovered lucid dreaming online and find it completely fascinating. I'm really excited about trying to have one that I can remember and know the basics... pretty much. I have been working on improving my dream recall by keeping a dream diary and doing RCs throughout the day since I know that will help. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I am about 15 years old and female without any sleeping problems.

      <div align="center">First, my dream recall isn&#39;t very good. I can only remember one dream at most per night and I do not wake up during the night at all unless something is unusual (i.e. nightmare, bathroom, loud noise, etc.). Mind you, I&#39;ve only been trying this for about the past four days.

      The next topic is my big one: SP. I am really scared of having SP or OBE. My question is if it is possible to die from either?

      Can some people not be able to lucid dream or at least induce them on their own? I know it can take a day, weeks, or months; however, I&#39;m really curious how long the average person takes.

      Lastly, what technique to induce lucid dreams is best for a newbie? I am really hesitant to try WILD because of the SP problem associated with it.
      </div>

      If anyone has any tips or advice for me, I&#39;d really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

      Nikki.

      No, no one has died from an SP or OBE. The worst side effect is simply fear, although many SP&#39;s aren&#39;t scary at all (especcially once you get used to it)
      A dream is the experience of envisioned images, sounds, or other sensations during sleep. It occurs in humans, most mammals, and some birds. [1] The events of dreams are often impossible or unlikely to occur in physical reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer. The exception is lucid dreaming, in which dreamers realize that they are dreaming, and are sometimes capable of changing their oneiric reality and controlling various aspects of the dream, in which the suspension of disbelief is often broken.[2]
      -Wikipedia

      All dreams are in a sense dreams of convenience, they help to prolong sleep instead of waking up. Dreams are the guardians of sleep and not its disturbers.

      Life is a constant interplay of energies. The saying, "We are all connected." goes far deaper than most realize. Matter and energy can not be destroyed, only transformed/ and or transmuted. What you have experienced in the dream state, which I consider a higher state of conscienceness, is a stronger attunement to and awareness of that interplay of energies.

      Some people believe that spirits can "steal" your body while having an OBE. But i think thats rubbish so, but no, no one can die. Mind me asking where you live? I recommended this site to a Nikki, and i&#39;m 15 so it might be you idn.

      But anyways, welcome.

      When I was a newbie, I found Mild/Suggestion to work real well with Wbtb. If you want to know what I did exactly, here it is:

      1. I got up early enough to feel real tired.
      2. Before I went back to bed, I repeated this over and over until I fell asleep: "I will remember to realize that I&#39;m dreaming." You can&#39;t just say them mindlessly; you need to think about what each word means.
      3. You fall asleep and sometime in the dream, you just snap to yourself and go "Oh my God, that&#39;s right, I&#39;m dreaming&#33;&#33;"

      There&#39;s rarely any SP with this, and it&#39;s good for newbies. I&#39;ve had an SP once while waking up, but I don&#39;t recall being very afraid because I understood that any kind of hallucinations or feelings were all in my head and couldn&#39;t hurt me. It kind of feels like you have novocain going through your entire body, kind of numb, can&#39;t move, but it wears off quickly if you try real hard to move. Don&#39;t worry, I was afraid of SP at first, but I&#39;ve quickly realized it&#39;s nothing to worry about and now am trying to actually induce it by a WILD in the afternoon&#33; If you&#39;re afraid of anything with SP, you can try WILD with the light on or during the daytime if it makes you feel safer.

      Hello and welcome to the boards. First off, you say that your dream recall isn&#39;t that good? Well, to have a lucid dream you have to be able to recall at least one dream per night, so yeah, keep up the DJ and the RCs.

      Don&#39;t worry about SP. It happens to you naturally every single night, so it&#39;s totally safe. The experience might be a tad scary for some people, as you&#39;re actually paralyzed and you can&#39;t really move, but other than that it&#39;s not harmful in any way. And no, you cannot die from either OBE or SP.

      For me, I had my first Lucid the first night I ever heard about it because I was so psyched up. I went to bed, and immediately had a 20 minute long LD with pretty good control and amazing vividness (even better and more vivid than real life). But for some, it might take a while. Currently, I&#39;m training my friend to have one, and he hasn&#39;t had one in over 5 months. I don&#39;t think he&#39;s really "TRYING" though, because he doesn&#39;t seem to put up that big of an effort. Anyway, what it all comes down to is how badly you want one. If you&#39;re very optimistic about it, and you&#39;re very excited, you can have one in one day. Definitely within a week if you&#39;re super motivated.

      WILD is a rather difficult technique, so don&#39;t try to attempt that one too much until you&#39;ve had a few LDs. You can, however, try a very easy technique which sort of involves WILD, but with amazing results. It&#39;s here if you&#39;re interested. If you don&#39;t like that one, you can try the MILD technique, which is also a fairly simple one.

      If you&#39;ve never had an LD, you don&#39;t really understand how amazing it is. It&#39;s kind of hard to believe (I didn&#39;t even believe it at first until I had one), but everything looks and feels like REAL LIFE. It&#39;s NO different. It&#39;s pretty insane, except your thoughts become things in ur LDs, and you have total control. It&#39;s probably one of the best experiences you could ever have in your life. Even sex in LDs is just as good, or better, than in real life. So keep on trying, write in your dream journal everyday, categorize and become familiar with your dream signs, Do at least 5 Reality Checks a day, and constantly look up new information. You&#39;ll find all the people on this forum are friendly and smart, and will help you out if you need any. Good luck

      Thanks&#33; I came across some info about having an SP and of course it would give the worst-case scenario and imply that it&#39;s like choking/dying or something so you can see where my concern would come from. It&#39;s good to know the only real issue is fear. Hopefully, I&#39;ll have an LD soon (without SP I hope, feeling comforted but definitely not into the idea of purposely having an SP)&#33; Sweet dreams.

      Talk about irony, but I don&#39;t actually know anyone who is on this site or has experience with LDs. Thanks for the help though&#33;

      You may also want to consider that SP actually happens naturally every night to your body when you fall alseep. It&#39;s the bodies way to make sure that the motions you experience during a dream aren&#39;t applied to your real body. So in order to achieve that, your body becomes paralised.

      Imagine, without SP you&#39;d actually start running in real if you do so during a dream. I think that&#39;s the problem that sleep walkers have. No SP there.

      Keep that in mind and it may help you to overcome fear.
