Hi guys, you probably won't remember me but.. I'm back to give lucid dreaming another go!
Basically, I tried LDing for around 3 months, with the advice and help given from this forum. Anyway, I found it really difficult to achieve, and I only managed to achieve lucidity three times, and each of these were only for a few seconds, where I would just sit still just laughing to myself loudly in my dream, thinking "Wow, I'm dreaming!" . I would completely forget to try spinning, or rubbing my hands or whatever.
But I want to try again!
Anyway, I used to keep a bit of a dream journal, and I discovered from it three main dreamsigns: (Most frequent first)
- Falling / jumping and having the gravity change.
- Electrical failure (anything from iPods to telephone systems)
- Water (usually trying to avoid it, then getting drenched by it)
However, I didn't really have a proper chance to use these, and the few times which I did manage to LD, these hadn't been triggered by these dreamsigns, to my knowledge. Unfortunately I couldn't really ask myself "Am I dreaming" whenever I see one of these dreamsigns, because they don't really occur!
Tonight I'm going to try WBTB/WILDing. I've tried WILDing before, with the breathe in "1" breathe out "I'm dreaming" technique, and I have managed to get to the point where I start to feel small vibrations. [I've only tried WILDing straight from awake - I've never been able to get myself up in the night when I've set an alarm or anything!]
Tonight, however, I'm going to set an alarm across over on the other side of my room, so that I have to get out of bed to switch it on. I'll just sit down and start reading a magazine for [half an hour??] Then I'll try the technique which I have used in the past - hopefully it will be more effective if my body is tired.
From looking at my sleep cycle, I think that my dreams occur most vividly at around 7 hours after going to sleep - I normally go to sleep at 11 and wake up at 8, but when I've woken up from dreams it's usually at around 6-6.30 AM. So tonight I'll try going off to sleep at 11, and I'll set my alarm for 5.15AM...
I really want to lucid dream, but properly this time. Last night I woke up from a brilliant dream (I thought I was falling out from a plane, and I could see small fields below me, but in fact it turned out that I was just in a wind machine - someone turned it off and I fell flat onto some painted fields, about an inch from my face )
So, wish me luck!
Cheers.
