To keep from waking up when you become lucid, the most important thing is to stay calm. Excitement can easily wake you up. Also, immediately try spinning in circles as soon as you become lucid. Research shows that this has a very high probability of keeping you asleep longer, as it stimulates several dream senses, which makes the dream stronger. These two things should be enough to keep you from waking up immediately.

Also, this is VERY important: Don't close your eyes! I dunno about anybody else, but my first reaction when I experience something awesome/unbelievable (such as realizing lucidity for the first time in a while&#33 is to blink a few times... BAD idea. In my first and only real WILD so far, I blinked just once, and my dream faded out and I woke.

      DEWNOT BLINCK, EH!

That must vary from person to person because I close my eyes to change scenery if spinning doesn't work and I stay lucid. But yeah, excitement is the problem.

When you first get lucid, just try to stop and concentrate on your surroundings. Just focus on every thing around you. After this try to look at your hands, or better yet rub them together.
