I just discovered this sitee a few days ago, although i had heard about lucid dreaming before (in Vanilla Sky and a newspaper article)...
As far as i know ive never had a lucid dream (apart from a 'maybe' that i posted in another thread).....
I jsut want to know something -

      1) I have high dream recall (i remember usually 1-2 dreams a night) does this better my chances of becoming a lucid dreamer?

      and

      2) Ive heard about the dream-signs thing, and reality checks, and i do them when im awake, to get into the habit. But if you want a lucid dream do you have to rely on doing a reality check INSIDE a dream by habit, or can you acheive a lucid dream through WILD?

      Hey, welcome to the forum!

      1) You can have a LD without having good recall, but the problem is, you won't remember it. So good recall does help.

      2) There's several different ways of inducing LD's, actually. You can WILD, or do the reality checks in a dream (DILD), and you'll find a lot of other methods in the tutorials secion.

      Good luck!

Good dream recall does seem to be an advantage for lucid dreaming. This is one reason that members are urged to keep a dream journal. This improves your recall. The more dreaming time you remember the more time in that state you will have to tap into it.
So you are already ahead of the game. However I still urge you to keep a DJ. They can provide help in many ways aside from recall.
      -Improve existing good dream recall
-Notes to look back and analyze.
-Find dream sign you may otherwise miss.

If you were to do a reality check in a dream you would find that you are Lucid. For reality checks are done on you own free will. But that is generally the pint. If you get inti the habit of performing RC during waking hours and determining reality from non reality the chances go up for you to perform them in a dream.
I remember I went through long stretch of doing reality checks while awake. I remained constant in my efforts. So this came about where I was doing a reality check and it seemed almost mundane. Everything seemed real (wake like) I then opened the door of my room to find the president and his entourage standing on the other side. - AWESOME.
This is why you have to do reality checks with conviction. You can't let them become repetitive in nature. You must keep it real, Don't go through the motions. This is very important.

      Another thing -

2 nights ago, i tried a bit of WILD....I just got myself tired, (by counting breaths) then pictured an image (like a forest) and pictrued myself in it, and doing things.... For a few seconds i felt as if i was sinking down into my bed, but then woke up!

      a question

      1) everyone says when entering a lucid dream after WILD you feel like your sinking into your bed (as i did) so does this mean there is a difference between basically falling asleep (when you can't remember how you fell asleep) and entering a lucid dream (where you can remember the feelings you got?

The only difference is that on a successfully WILD you are aware through the whole process of falling asleep. All those feelings and sensations happen every night, but we are usually asleep through the process and don't remember any of it.

      Thanks!

that made me more confident of having a LD, because i got to the sinking feeling a few nights ago, but was just WAAAY too excited about lucid dreaming to have one....
