Hi, As icedawg mentioned I am the new owner of this website. Let me introduce myself, try to answer some of your questions, and make a request. First off I should say that I have very little direct experience with lucid dreaming; though it has happened to me a couple of times, it was only for a brief moment before I woke up. I do, however, have a fair amount of experience with hacking my own body’s sleep patterns. I see sleeping as a kind of "final frontier" for human performance, a vast chunk of time thus far little optimized and not discussed nearly enough. At any rate I have much to learn about LD from the folks here. I’ll be spending a lot of time in the next few weeks reading and getting up to speed. To give you a little information about myself: I am a web developer by profession. I work for Top Cola Inc. (they are the "official" new owners of the site, but I'm the one who will be involved with DV). Right now my projects include another (Spanish language) community site and feedGod. You can still see my very first website, http://www.lyca.com, which remains virtually unchanged since I designed it nine years ago. If you figure out what it means let me know; I’m still looking for clues. I understand there's some concern among the folks here about the future of the forum. There will indeed be some advertising, but I will do my best to make it unobtrusive and relevant. Don’t expect any pop-up's, giant banners, or those dread Interstitials, especially not for registered users. I have no reason, or desire, to make changes which diminish the experience of the 10k current DV users, who I can only assume decided to stay because they liked what they found here. Aside from simply getting to know the place, much of my energy these first few weeks will be focused on technical issues. The site's hosting will probably be moved to one of my company’s dedicated servers, and I will be getting acquainted with the forum software and looking for ways to optimize the code. After that I’ll be looking to do promotion, add new features, and make some changes. So now here's my request. I’d like to know the following things: 1. What do you like best about DV? 2. What do you like least? 3. What changes or additions would you want to see made to the forum or website? Please send your responses to these questions *by Private Message only*, don't post them here. I'm interested in hearing from as many people as possible, whether you are a newbie with 0 posts or if you have been modding since the days when people worried about SARS, let me know what you think! I’ll try to respond to as many of the PMs as possible, but either way know that all your messages will be read and taken into account. See if you can fill up my inbox! love your reply kaniaz... what do i like best about DV? the good sense of community it has, and the large number of friends i've made. what do i like least? the fact that these days i'm too busy to practise lucid dreaming, and i don't catch up with people half as often as i would like... as for changes, i'll get back to you on that when i've thought some more. btw, nice to meet you!

I already had spoken to you a few days ago, but I once again welcome you to the community! I am confident that this change will go well. I mean, hey, its not like Ice Dawg does anything anymore anyway (Just kidding Ice, we still love ya ) As for the advertising everyone, while the details are sketchy, the team is under the impression that the advertising will be text ads only and only for unregistered users. If we can get confirmation from Asher, that'd be great.

Hey Asher It's good to "hear" your voice at last! I'm really excited about the new avenues this will open for DV, and I hope the community will recognize that this change is for the benefit of everyone involved, including all the members. Since we have great staff members in place, I'm sure everything will run smoothly, and we will do all we can to make sure DV remains to be a great place to come to discuss LDing, or just to hang out. This site/forum is a big part of my life, and I've made great friends here, so I am at your service in whatever you need.
