      I'm new

Hi, I stumbled upon this site last night and was very intrigued at the idea (I've heard about it before, but I guess I never really believed it, or something). So I tried to increase my dream recall (Since right now I don't remember any dreams at all) and my first attempt was unsuccessful. Tonight I plan on going to bed earlier and trying again. Currently I'm trying to just tell myself that I will wake up and remember, but I can't actually say it out loud and fall asleep, so I try to think it, and I guess my mind wanders before I actually fall asleep. Anyways, Hi, and any advice to helping me increase my dream recall would help.

      Hey Mirico,

Dream recall can be pretty tricky. I think that the number one thing you can do to increase you recall is keep a dream journal. You could also try this: Before you go to sleep repeat to yourself something like “I will wake up after every dream period” don’t just say it either you have to believe it. The first time I tried this it worked perfectly. If it works then you should wake up a couple times a night. As you wake up concentrate on what you were just dreaming, then run the dream through your head a couple times and write it down. Hope that’s helpful! By the way everyone on dream views is willing to help so if you have more questions don’t hesitate to ask.

      Hey Mirico

Like vertical horizon said, you'll wake up a couple times during the night (the first day I started recording my dreams I woke up four times and remembered a dream every awakening!) and try to think of the dream you had (or thoughts, feelings because it'll help you remember). You can keep a tape recorder next to your bed and record your dreams audioly because when I try to first jot down notes my handwriting is SO sloppy I have no idea what I wrote!! (because you'll find that you may not remember the dream you talked about/ wrote about later)

I'm sortof new, I joined in nov 03 but by my post # you can tell I've been away for a while!

      WELCOME MIRICO!!!

You have been given some wise advice here, and if you have any further questions, as vertical said, just ask!

Yep a dream journal is imperative. Try to write something down everyday. Keep it by your bed and write stuff down during the night.
