      danger of lucid dream addiction?

I've been thinking about this for a long time now. My life is great and all, but once I get good at lucid dreaming, what if I loved it so much, I'd rather be asleep than awake? Does anyone else have that feeling? It seems like lucid dreams would be so perfect that I'd never want to be awake again.

Also, do you think when people are in a coma they are lucid, or just dreaming regularly?

I don't think that will ever happen to you inless you get real good, but I guess it wouldn't be so bad inless you over sleep, I mean if I have more fun asleep then I do awake thats not a problem for me

Even if this did happen, which I doubt would ever happen, you can't sleep all the time. After enough sleep, you're simply not tired enough to remain asleep.

If you get to a point when you realize you'd rather be asleep than awake, you gotta know that you have a problem. At least you're on the alert for it already! And I wouldn't think that lucid dreaming could get better than life. I mean, real sex will always be better, real food will always be better, etc. I'd say you're safe. Or if you're really worried, ask one of your friends to watch out for you. Ask them to point out if you ever get to the point when you're just sleeping your life away.

I think lucid dreaming can be better then real life, you can never see as clear in real life as it is possible in dreams, inless ofcourse you have 20/20 vision and can see crystal clear, beleive me on this, I've had some pretty wickid vivid dreams, secound real sex may be better when your a beginner, but talk to billybob and he will tell you what he was able to do with dream orgasms, and on the food thing you can eat as much as you want, and have it taste exactly how you want it if your good enough, imagen eating endlessly and never getting full

But as long as you stay healthy then dream away, you don't need a social life if you don't want it, no it's not sarcasm, but I serously doubt lucid dreaming will defeat your social life, nor would you ever want to give it away, I mean what would be missing from your life if you stayed healthy but enjoyed dreaming more then waking thats my question for all you guys who say lucid dreaming should be enjoyed less then waking life.

You'll find that not all sleep is capable of fostering LDs. After so long - like when you're no longer tired - I believe the nature and "depth" of REM will become too shallow to give you much success. If you want plenty of LDs, you've got to be awake plenty as well. It may sound paradoxical but, I think thats pretty close to the truth.

You're probably right, LucidGod. As a total newbie, I was just speculating, just giving advice on what I know so far. But I still stand firm on watching to make sure that dreaming doesn't encompass your life completely. Because real life is out there, and sometimes being in the unpredictable world is a good thing. Being in control of everything all the time, like lucid dreaming, is not awesome.
Thanks for keeping me in check, LucidGod

The fact that your new to this doesn't matter much, I was stating an oppinioin of mine I suspected that you like many others valued real life alot, me I view it alot diffrent then others.

For example my friend has experienced alot of lucid dreaming he's the best lucid dreamer I know and still denys lucid dreaming as having anywhere close to the value his real life has (and beleive me he could have experienced ANYTHING), me myself haven't had that much fun in this world, I am bored and my life has remained the same for the past 4 years, exactly the same, maybe it's my fault and maybe it's just who I am, just wanted to say this because I want your opinioun to be as valid as mine.

      Hey!
      I prefer dreaming.
Thats only because i am having a rough time.
My ex, who i am in still in love with, lives out west...and when i dream, i can see him...and so, i am happiest when i am asleep.
i know its bad, but its the truth!

I think you'd more or less just get really exited when you go to sleep, which is fine.

I don't think things would get to a point all you want to do is sleep, like the matrix or something.

If it does go see a shrink, cause you are really depressed or something.
