      WILD but no lucid

I'm new to the concept of lucid dreaming. I've only been trying to achieve lucidity for a week now.

I attempted a WILD, and I think I got pretty far. I reached a state of sleep paralysis or something similar, but after that was unable to have a lucid dream.

I lay in my bed, twitching a little bit, for THREE HOURS.

I suppose I could have moved if I really needed to, but I didn't want to break the state of sleep paralysis and lose my chance to have a lucid dream.

Any advice on completing a WILD and avoiding something like this? I suppose I could try a MILD or something easier, but those haven't been working for me.

Hey AbyssNess welcome to the forums, for a start if your new to lucid dreaming i must say that trying to WILD is a big step, though you did sound asthough you were sucessful to a degree, you were close aswell, i have experienced what you experienced when i really tried a WILD however i do not think it was SP but close, when i had it my body was numb but i felt i could easily just move but i didn't want to because i thought i would ruin the state i was in, my suggestion is that you give a go at WILDing for a few more days, if you have more sucess then carry on but if you don't i'd recommend trying a MILD, its the easiest one for many people, you may not be suceeding at it because your not giving it enough time, all i can say is stick to something and you can't go wrong, try different things, i can relate to your experience because i lay in bed for 2 hours trying and got similar results, if it isn't working for you don't be mad because some methods are not for everyone, just try different things, also have you started keeping a dream journal because that will definately help you towards having lucid dreams. It will boost your recall, if you havn't got a dream journal i suggest you start tonight. Hope that helped

I had those endless and unsuccessful WILD attempts too... but they are not completely worthless, because you learnt about how your body starts to feel, and you will be less surprised when the real WILD occurs !
I would suggest to experiment with the hour at which you do WILD. When I started, I did it sometime in the middle of the night, but I was not sleepy enough, so concentrating on WILD kept me awake and I couldn't enter the dream. I discovered that it was much easier and faster later, near the morning.
You'll have to try different times of the night and see which one is best for you (If you oversleep after the time you're supposed to get up for work/school, for example, then this might be the good time). Also, vary the amount of time you wait between wake-up and WILD; tutorials may say 30 minutes, it may be shorter for you.
      Good luck !
      Dec. 2006 - July 2007:
      92 DILDs + 30 WILDs ; 75% too short, 24% decent, ~3 of 2 to 5 minutes
      (I stopped counting after that)

I had something like this last night. I lied in bed for a really long time. Eventually I fell asleep. As soon as I realized I was dreaming, I woke up.
