      WILD Help

I've been practicing reality checks and have kept a journal for a little while now, but I don't see any consistencies as to finding a dream sign. In my dreams I always fail to do a RC, so what I've started trying instead are WILDs. I lay there for a good while, and become totally induced by SP (I know this because I try moving and cannot, and the couple times I actually tried getting out of bed it was damn near impossible lol). Only problem is I can't seem to drift my conscious into a dream. I lay there and eventually give up and let sleep take over. What is a better way to drift from one state to the next, into an LD?

      Thanks for any help guys

I have never recognized any dream signs in my dreams. I mean I have some.. I just don't recognize them.

The key to WILDing for me is to lay in a comfortable position, to let thoughts come and go (but always direct them back to wanting to beome lucid) and NOT moving (i.e., changing position). You want your body to be tricked into falling asleep while your mind is still awake. Please also realize that your body will TEST you to see if you're awake.. your arm will itch or your leg will want to move, etc. The thing is to IGNORE all these sensations!! If you react to them.. your body will know that you are NOT asleep! If you can remain in one position and breath steadily as though you were indeed asleep, you will TRICK your body to actually going to sleep while you are still aware!

When I do the above, if all goes well (and I don't just fall asleep), I feel a familiar "shift/falling" sensation (which alerts me that my body is falling asleep while my mind is still awake). I wait until I feel it ONCE MORE and I seem to fall asleep only I immediately sense that I'm dreaming and I do a reality check (be it plugging my nose and seeing if I can breath or looking at my watch twice and seeing if the time changes).

If the reality checks fail, I instantly know that I'm lucid!

      .

Don't let your body get the best of you.
There once was a time where I woke up, but my knees were bent...so I had a hard time trying not to move them.
I was laying down for 15 minutes thinking, "do not move your legs". It was frustrating, because my nose was itching, and my legs were really hurting.
Maybe you could try listening to a sleep inducing tape, it should work for you. :]

Thanks guys for the help! I've had that problem come about, where my body twitches or itches, but I ignore it. I just don't know how to move my mind into the sleep phase... or do i even do that at all? I'm unsure if in a WILD you go to sleep at all or it just turns into a dream. Every time I go to shift into a dream my conscious snaps back to full alertness and I continue to lay there, body asleep mind awake lol.

Maybe I just don't understand enough of this at the moment. I'll continue practicing haha.
