A possible lucid dreaming experience and a question.

      Hey guys and gals,
Three months ago I discovered lucid dreaming and I was anxious to try it out but after a couple of unsuccessful attempts I just gave up.
But here's what happened to me today:

I fell asleep, slept for about 1-2 hours and woke up, after that I tried to fall asleep again but instead I reached what I believe was the sleep paralysis stage - I was fully aware of what was happening and my eyes were half open, I couldn't move my body and whenever I tried to move it my body sort of spasmed but nothing happened.
I remember actually thinking to myself clearly, "Okay I'm in sleep paralysis" and yet I still freaked out and actually tried to wake up but couldn't.
Shortly after that I had a dream, I know it was a dream because I actually saw what I wanted to see in front of my eyes and it was very realistic as opposed to imagining something, for example.
And I remember being able to actually control what I'm seeing.

I don't remember all of the dreams but I remember one in particular:
I dreamt of sitting in front of the computer ( I dont remember exactly what I was doing on the computer) and actually seeing words and sentences that didn't make sense at all, for example something like "Audio excellent folder open game sound" - which leads me to the question:

How do I know if I really had a lucid dream or if I dreamt of having a lucid dream?
(What makes me so unsure is that after dreaming of sitting in front of the computer, I suddenly 'lost control' and had a normal dream (In that normal dream, I was telling people about the lucid dream I just had) .

      Thanks a lot.

If you knew at that very moment that you were dreaming, then you were lucid.

Sounds like you had a lucid dream, followed by a false awakening (common after lucids) in which you were sharing your experience, like you're doing now, only unaware that you were still dreaming.
