      My first lucid

Hi everyone ever since I found out about lucid dreaming thanks to the movie Waking Life I set on a mission and an intensive day of web research. I had my first lucid dream shortly after and it was amazing: My friend and I were smoking in my car driving trough a familiar neighborhood but suddenly I started to loose control of the car and it began to zig zag its way through the street as I was panicking trying to control it my friend was laughing hysterically but my steering wheel had no affect on the movement of my car.Out of nowhere I saw that there was a tree that had grown in the middle of the paved road and we drove straight into it.(surprisingly the tree in the middle of the road was not my dream alert signal) I remember telling my friend to shut up cause it wasn't funny. I yelled "nooo my car I was about to sell it".We got out to inspect the damage and it looked totally wrecked, I tried to open the trunk and I got it open I saw that the engine was missing and thats when I realized that I was dreaming I felt incredible like I had observed the world for the first time. It felt more real than real life. "Im dreaming" I told my friend and I became overwhelmed with excitement and I began to run towards a moving big brown house and got in and I lost lucidity. there is no words to describe how that short dream felt all I can say is that I' going to continue to try to have lucid dreams until the day I die.

yeah never give up, ive only been at it for a few months and i've had dreams last up to 8 minutes long... really incredible stuff. my word of advice is to never skip a day, never tell yourself "oh i guess i'll just try tomorrow" practive every single day like a virtuoso musician. What really interests me is the dream world is the only place where your concious and subconcious mind can interact.

There is no need to explain.. I know exactly how you felt/feel!

Congratulations on your first lucid dream! You will never think of "sleep" the same way ever again now that your lucid journey has begun.

      Last Nights Attempt

      Hey,
Quite literally learned how to WILD last night, and tried it at like, 3:30

It took some getting used to; trial and error, but I finally realized that my body is supposed to think I'm sleeping, so I mimiced sleeping. Eventually I felt the falling backwards, and sort of floating through space...buuuuut, then I got excited (and for some reason had a hard time breathing) and came out of it.

I didn't wake up at 3:30 for nothing, I found a comfortable position, and tried again, this time I almost fell asleep, but I sort of came too, and there was the most intense vibration, I remember telling myself to relax, and go with it, and I relaxed my left leg, and it vibrated off the bed. Apart from this there were numbers, words and thing flashing realllly fast in front of my eyes. Then I said, I'm done with this and I rolled over, and then I "woke up"
vibration isn't the right word though...it was more like an oscillation, it was loud, and vibrating everything.

I don't know what this was, so if someone could give me some pointers, that would be amazing. I am somewhat confused.

      Thanks

I know what you mean as I've felt the onset of the *shift* and then felt it just.. stop.

When I first began WILDing, I experienced vibrations and the loud *fingernails on the chalkboard*, but sadly now I no longer feel vibrations, see patterns nor hear sounds. I miss them as they confirmed to me that I had entered mind awake/body asleep.

What I experience now is a subtle but distinctive *shift* in my consciousness. I suddenly just am aware that my consciousness is different. I may realize that suddenly I've jumped into some random thought from where I was.. or I feel like my mind has "blinked".. or I feel a slight sinking feeling in my head and/or body.

The knowing of "when" I can move is something that has come from practice and from trial and error. I've missed many opportunities to be lucid due to waiting around for vibrations, scenes or sounds to either start or grow stronger.

Unfortunately it's a very fine line between reality checking too soon (and not totally being in body asleep) and reality checking too late and missing that exact moment and simply falling asleep and winding up in a non-lucid dream.

When I feel the *shift* twice, I either roll out or stand up. Since your "physical" body is paralyzed (hopefully).. try rolling your body to the right or left and standing up. It will feel as though you are actually rolling your physical body.. but it will be your astral/dream body that will be rolling.

If you find that the sensation has stopped (and you're not too tired/frustrated), don't move and simply begin your technique/affirmations again. I find that since it's so early in the morning anyway.. I still have plenty of time to give it one more shot.

I hope I answered your question.. if not, please let me know.

You may also want to take a look at my technique found in my signature below.

I felt the sinking feeling the first time, the feeling that overcomes your body. It is distinct, my problem (it being my first time and all), I was thinking like, yessss I did it, and then poof it sort of just faded away.

The HP stuff for me is very subtle.
I have a bad reaction to codeine (realized this when I got my wisdom teeth out) as a result, it causes me to hallucinate right as a doze off to sleep, and also gives me the most horrendous nightmares imagineable (this is what got me interested in dreams)
back to the point, the HP I got is exactly like the hallucinations from the codeine
I hear yelling, and voices, gibberish, or random words. If I see anything it is maybe a randoms snapshot of an image, and as soon as it appears it is gone. What some people say to do is try and focus "gently" onto the images, but I find it next to impossible to do.

I guess I just need more practice, I'll find my niche eventually

      thank you for the response

      Simon
